Rep. of Congo [db_pics/pics/au868d.jpg]

Glassy transparent Tourmaline crystal from recent finds in the Congo. The color from the side appears as green over pink, but there is also a yellow color at the termination that makes this one really interesting and uncommon. The shape of the termination is also fantastic. Note that this one is directly from a miner and has not been to a cleaning lab and could likely be improved. Undamaged and weighs 20.84 grams.

Dark olive green Kolwezite pseudomorphs after Cuprite atop rhombs of pink Cobaltoan Calcite (or possibly Cobaltoan Dolomite) creating a stunning mixture of colors and forms. There are a few clusters of an earlier generation of botryoidal Kolwezite but the majority are angular crystals of the pseudomorphs. Kolwezite is a Copper Cobalt Carbonate Hydroxide and this is the type locality for the species. A beautiful large display piece and combination specimen of two desireable species together.

Good, larger sized Congo Tourmaline typically sells for about $300/gram, but because it is an older piece obtained in a trade I'm able to sell it here at about $150/gram.
