Exquisite 3.5cm doubly-terminated Indicolite crystal emplaced on a clear Quartz crystal. The Tourmaline is gem quality for it's entire length, undamaged, with a good medium blue color (not too dark!) that alternates in intensity and shows great blue color well under any lighting without the need for any backlighting. The Quartz itself is fine and also interesting due to inclusions of white Dolomite crystals. No damage, repairs, or restorations. Ex. Mike Keim.

Pyrite from Merelani is noted for it's high luster and complex form, and this specimen is one of the best I've ever owned, one that I've held in my collection for years. It has large size, top metallic luster over all surfaces (others have matte luster in areas) and the color is wonderful. It's a tall oval in shape, well crystallized all around with a point of contact on the base. There is some damage as to be expected on most Pyrite from this locality, and areas where contacted from Graphite and Calcite. Trigon growth hillocks are present on some of the faces. There is even Tanzanite and Diopside grown into the base. Due to the high luster it was hard to photograph and you will find this to be much better in person than the photos. Ex. Mike Keim.

It has good size and complex form, and more complete than most. It's well crystallized all around, even on parts of the base. Has areas where contacted from Graphite and areas of attached Graphite. Thick seam of satiny, golden 'Tiger's-Eye', which is the gemstone name for the fibrous golden Quartz found at this locality. This is an excellent, collectable example due to the much thicker than normal seam of gem Tiger-eye.

R596 - Feldspar var. Moonstone $ 1800
Namalulu, Tanzania
large cabinet - 25 x 15 x 7 cm

Tall, shallow vug loaded with blocky, grey/white Felspar var. moonstone crystals from Tanzania. It's hard to tell in the photos, but this is shaped somewhat like a half-cylinder with the middle zones deeper than the edges. This is the largest, best specimen I've seen with both quality, well formed crystals and good color. The crystals reach 3cm in size and display a satiny blue color across the end surfaces. This 'Schiller effect' of blue flashes is seen when you turn the specimen under lighting. Ex. Mike Keim. Moonstone crystals are rare! A large, display quality specimen of this uncommon Feldspar varietal.
