R401 - Tourmaline with Lepidolite $ 6750 SOLD Lemon Tree Pocket, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil miniature - 4.2 x 4 x 1.5 cm
Glassy, distinctive Tourmaline from one of the most famous pockets found in Brazil. The Lemon Tree Pocket was found in 2005 and produced these stunning, color-zoned crystals with high glassy luster and areas with rare (for Tourmaline) yellow coloration. This is a crystal I purchased from Daniel Trinchillo when they were first being sold and have held ever since. It's complete all around and undamaged and has the bonus of an attached purple Lepidolite crystal. Weighs 44.41 grams.
R402 - Cobaltian Calcite $ 1800 Mashamba West Mine, Lualaba, DR Congo small cabinet - 8 x 8 x 4 cm
Vivid, 'hot' pink crystals of Cobaltian Calcite. The color is fantastic and the crystals are good sized for this style, reaching 1.5cm wide. Undamaged vug of translucent crystals with the top color.
R403 - Tremolite $ 2400 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania small cabinet - 5.5 x 2.7 x 1.0 cm
Vivid green, doubly-terminated Tremolite crystal from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. This is a good sized crystal I owned for over a decade. It is complete and nearly pristine (minor edge wear) with typical striated prism faces. The Tremolite has multiple flat termination faces on top and a healed base covered by nummerous small termination faces.
R404 - Copper with Calcite $ 3500 Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan, USA miniature - 4 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm
Transparent, jewel-like single Calcite crystal with attached Copper. What really sets this one off is an area of included Copper inside the base of the Calcite crystal that is visible when looking into any of the crystal faces. The attached Copper has a darker patina, while the included Copper retains it's bright metallic coloration. Complete and undamaged.
R405 - Smokey Quartz $ 200 USA miniature - 4.5 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm
Sharp, pristine, and transparent single Smokey Quartz crystal I've owned for at least 40 years. Razor-sharp edges with light surface striations on the faces. Complete and undamaged with high transparency.
R406 - Andardite var. Melanite $ 1800 San Benito Co., California, USA cabinet - 10 x 9 x 3 cm
Large, glossy black Melanite crystals on matrix. The crystals reach 1.2cm in size and are fairly well separated compared to most. I've collected in this area and what is typical is drusy coverage of 1-3mm crystals - this is a great one for the locality!
R407 - Smithsonite with Willemite $ 2800 Berg Aukas Mine, Grootfontein, Namibia miniature - 4 x 2.5 x 2 cm
Cluster of 3 translucent yellow Smithsonite crystals with attached white Willemite crystals in pristine condition. The main Smithsonite crystal is 3.3cm wide and doubly-terminated. Ex. Charlie Key collection.
R408 - Tourmaline $ 4000 SOLD Kunar Prov., Afghanistan thumbnail - 3.1 x 3.0 x 1.7 cm
Glassy single Tourmaline crystal with a blue body color and bright purple termination. This is an older piece I bought in the 1990s and held onto due to the unusual colors. Complete all around and undamaged except for a couple very trial nicks. Weighs 36.16 grams.
R409 - Acanthite $ 120 Imiter Mine, Ouarzazate, Morocco thumbnail - 2.5 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm
Sculptural specimen of Acanthite crystals with individual crystals to 2cm.
R410 - Datolite on Quartz $ 275 Prospect Park, Passaic Co., New Jersey, USA small cabinet - 5.5 x 5 x 4 cm
Glassy green Datolite crystals atop drusy Quartz. The Datolite crystals reach 1.7cm in size and are glassy and partially transparent. This is an aesthetic, mound-shaped specimen with good green color to the Datolite. Ex. Al and Bernie Haag collection.
R411 - Quartz after Orthoclase $ 60 Ruby Mountain, Elko Co., Nevada, USA small cabinet - 5.5 x 3.5 x 1.7 cm
Old pseudomorph of Quartz after a twinned Orthoclase crystal. Complete and undamaged. Both sides shown. Found in 1968.
R412 - Quartz after Danburite $ 120 Charcas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico small cabinet - 6 x 3.7 x 2.5 cm
Pseudomorph of Quartz after a single Danburite crystal. The entire outer surface is covered by drusy Quartz crystals. Complete and undamaged.
R413 - Stibiconite after Stibnite $ 90 Mina San Jose, Catorce, San Luis Potosi, Mexico small cabinet - 7.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm
Yellow Stibiconite that has replaced elongated Stibnite crystals. Fine representative example of this Mexican classic.
R414 - Bixbyite on Garnet pseudomorph $ 275 Pismire Wash, Thomas Range, Juab Co., Utah, USA thumbnail - 2 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm
Black cubes of Bixbyite on a large single Garnet pseudomorph. Such pseudomorphs are typically dull grey specimens of Hematite ps. Garnet. This specimen appears to be a Hematite pseudomorph after garnet with additiional pseudomorphism of Topaz on the surface. The Topaz give the lustrous glassy reflections that mimic the geomtric faces of the original garnet crystal. These are uncommon!
P228 - Ludlockite $ 200 SOLD Mina Oujela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico miniature - 4.0 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm
Fibrous red/orange crystals of Ludlockite on matrix from a recent find at the Ojuela Mine. This was found recently by a local miner searching for Legrandite and shipped directly to me from Mexico. While most specimens showed small areas of Ludlockite, this was the only one with a solid seam of pure Ludlockite running through the entire specimen. Ludlockite is a rare lead iron arsenite species and specimens were previously best known from the Type locality of Tsumeb. Ludlockite specimens from Tsumeb were found decades ago from a single boulder and are very hard to obtain. These recent specimens from Mexico make a once very difficult to obtain species available to collectors. ©2010-2018 Marin Mineral |
