Large single crystal of Quartz partially replaced by Shattuckite. A central core of Quartz can still be seen at the base, with Shattuckite up to 2cm thick outside the Quartz. This is one of two such crystals obtained by Marshall Sussman many years ago (the other is in the Bruce Carter collection).

Cluster of large, glossy black Andradite crystals from Mexico. An aesthetic, undamaged cluster of large crystals. The main central crystal is 4.5cm wide. An old specimen from the Bob Reynolds collection.
R379 - Aquamarine on Smokey Quartz $ 2800 (=~ CAN$ 3843) SOLD Quy Chau District, Nghe An Province,Vietnam small cabinet - 7 x 1.5 x 1.0 cm

R380 - Celestite $ 3500 (=~ CAN$ 4803) SOLD Machow Mine, Tarnobrzeg, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland cabinet - 10.5 x 7 x 4 cm
Cluster of dark blue Celestite crystals from Poland. This is an amazing cluster of crystals with high glassy luster that is complete all around and nearly a flaoter with just one small 2cm area on the base showing contact. Well crystallized all around and damage free, the richness of the color, combined with the translucency and high luster make this a mesmerizing piece. A couple small bits of attached Sulfur add contrast. Ex. Bob Reynolds collection.
R381 - Fluorite gemstone $ 1800 (=~ CAN$ 2470) William Wise Mine, Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA thumbnail - 2.3 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm
Faceted trilliant gemstone of green Fluorite from the Wise Mine. There are some shadows in the photos but the gem is full transparent and eye clean in person. Weighs 50.89 carats.
R382 - Cumengite $ 2800 (=~ CAN$ 3843) SOLD Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalia, Baja Sur, Mexico thumbnail - 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.8 cm
Rare Cumengite specimen, the finest one I obtained years ago from a Mexican miner. Cumengite is a rare halide that grows on the faces of Boleite cubes. There are pointed crystals of Cumengite on all 6 of the Boleite cube faces, and all are perfect. Rare to find complete 'stars' or 'jumping jacks' of Cumengite. Amazing geometric form and deep blue color.
R383 - Hemimorphite $ 600 (=~ CAN$ 823) SOLD Oujela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico small cabinet - 7 x 5 x 3 cm
White crystals of Hemimorphite on a thin Limonite matrix. While Hemimorphite specimens have come out of this mine by the hundreds, special pieces as this that aren't just matrix covered by uniformly sized crystals are uncommon. This specimen features a thick fan-shaped group of crystals, 3cm wide, on the right side accented by typical upright crystals on the left side.
R384 - Apatite on Muscovite $ 2400 (=~ CAN$ 3294) Shigar Valley, Skardu, Baltistan, Pakistan thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm
A 2cm purple Apatite crystal grown atop a Muscovite crystal, with a cluster of smaller Apatite attached to the right side of the front face. The Apatite has excellent, vivid purple coloration and areas of transparency. Well crystallized all around with good faces on the backside too, along with a tiny Tourmaline crystal.
R385 - Prehnite on Tanzanite $ 6000 (=~ CAN$ 8234) Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 3.1 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm
Bi-color single Tanzanite crystal with an attached cluster of yellow Prehnite. Such combos are uncommon, but when you do find one, they make for highly beautiful specimens due to the contrast of color and form. The Tanzanite is purple with a transparent yellow zone at the termination. Highly glassy and undamaged, though the lower half of the back face is contacted. One the most visually stunning Tanzanites I've ever owned.
R386 - Tourmaline $ 2000 (=~ CAN$ 2745) SOLD Kunar Prov., Afghanistan thumbnail - 2.4 x 0.8 x 0.8 cm
Single blue Tourmaline crystal (Indicolite) from a find about 25 years ago. Complete all around with fantastic blue coloration, as close to Paraiba color I've ever seen without copper. This was one of the top 2 crystals from a lot I bought decades ago that I considered to be the best Indicolites I've ever obtained in terms of vivid blue coloration.
R387 - Tourmaline $ 2000 (=~ CAN$ 2745) SOLD Kunar Prov., Afghanistan thumbnail - 2.0 x 1.1 x 1 cm
R388 - Malachite $ 5000 (=~ CAN$ 6862) Andrassy Mine, Rudabanya, Hungary small cabinet - 7.5 x 7 x 4 cm
Two bright green, submetallic rosette formations of Malachite crystals from a historic European locality. The largest cluster is 4cm wide. These are 'primary' Malachite crystals (not pseudomorphs after Azurite) and occur on matrix with Calcite crystals. An exceptional piece for the locality (or any locality).
R389 - Topaz $ 1250 (=~ CAN$ 1715) Nyet, Braldu Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan miniature - 4 x 3 x 2.2 cm
Highly transparent single Topaz crystal from Pakistan. Complete all around with glassy luster and nearly flawless internally. This is a crystal purchased at least 20 years ago and held in my collection.
R390 - Topaz $ 1250 (=~ CAN$ 1715) Nyet, Braldu Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan miniature - 4.4 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm
Highly transparent single Topaz crystal from Pakistan. Complete all around with glassy luster and nearly flawless internally over most the crystal with just a few viels near the bottom. This is a crystal purchased at least 20 years ago and held in my collection.
R391 - Chalcophyllite $ 2000 (=~ CAN$ 2745) El Teniente Mine, Rancagua, Cachapoal Province, O'Higgins, Chile small cabinet - 6.0 x 6 x 3 cm
Seldom seen specimen of Chalcophyllite from an old Copper mine in Chile. Bright teal-green platy crystals occur on both wide exposed areas and in vugs along with Azurite, Malachite, and drusy Quartz crystals. The quality of the Chalcophyllite crystals is excellent, comparable to top worldwide specimens from other localities, and the color contrast with the blue Azurite makes it highly aesthetic. This mine started operation in the early 1800s and this specimen is likely over 100 years old. Comes with 3 old labels including Shortmann's Minerals and a Marion Godshaw collection label. ©2010-2018 Marin Mineral |
