FM187 - Smithsonite $ 350 (=~ £ 280) SOLD

Two generations of translucent blue Smithsonite from recent finds. The first generation is a lighter blue forming an approximately 5mm coating over the matrix. The second generation is a deeper blue botryoidal cluster of Smithsonite with shimmering luster and a wonderful translucent color. Very aesthetic piece!

Thick, deep forest green Brochantite crystals with high luster. These are thick, robust crystals from a 2014 find and are much different in style than earlier finds from the mine which were usually more fragile, hair-like crystals. No longer being found.

Fine, transparent brown single Dravite crystal with an attached white Apatite (?) at the base. Like rootbeer-colored glass. Complete all around and undamaged, exceptional quality for the locality.

A splendid deep red, double-terminated Cinnabar crystal set in a well proportioned matrix covered by Dolomite crystals. The Cinnabar crystal is 1.8cm long. There are areas of stepped growth on the front faces, but not damage.

Translucent green and yellow Prehnite from the Merelani Tanzanite mines. The center is composed of a green hemisphere of Prehnite out from which grow toothy yellow crystals. Has a bit of white Calcite attached to one side.

A thick 4cm Azurite crystal/crystal group on matrix with smaller more prismatic crystals located below the large main crystal. There are also Cerussite and Mimetite present making this a classic multi-species Tsumeb piece. Great color to the Azurite, not too dark rather a bright blue.

Transparent yellow Sphalerite associated with Calcite and Quartz crystals. Good yellow color without too much brown. The doubly-terminated Quartz above the Sphalerite is a nice touch.

Colorful old specimen of pink Rhodochrosite on Quartz. The old label dates this specimen back to at least 1982.

Rare New York Ruby crystal! Translucent with a prismatic, hexagonal form. From an old collection, these were rarely found in the Franklin Marble that runs from Sussex Co., New Jersey north into Orange Co., New York. This was likely found in Amity, Warwick, New York. A seldom seen New York classic.
