FM124 - Gold $ 4700 (=~ € 4294) SOLD California, USA miniature - 4.3 x 3 x 1.7 cm
Large Gold nugget with some attached grey Quartz. Slightly water worn, this is an impressive, hefty specimen weighing 2.52 ounces (78.4 grams). It last sold for $4,340, which at the time (Bonham's auction May 17, 2016) was 1.36 times the spot (bullion) value of Gold, which is a typical valuation for nugget Gold, especially larger ones. An equivalent price, based on today's Gold price of $62.5/gram, would be $6,615. I performed a specific gravity test on this which yielded an estimated Gold content of approximately 70 grams, or about $4,375 worth of Gold. Gold nugggets over 2 ounces are not common.
