ST853 - Cavansite on Stilbite $ 275 Wagholi Quarry, Pune Dist., Maharashtra State, India miniature - 5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rounded clusters of electric blue Cavansite on Stilbite. The Cavansite clusters reach 1.5cm in diameter. The Stilbite occur as both tiny drusy crystals and larger white individual crystals. Undamaged.
ST859 - Heulandite, Stilbite $ 150 Jalgaon, Maharashtra State, India small cabinet - 6 x 5.5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large pearly white bow-tie clusters of Heulandite attached to a section of Quartz stalactite. The Heulandite crystals are superb with high luster and reach 5cm in size and have small clusters of attached Stiblite. Highly aesthetic example with great balance and form, undamaged.
ST884 - Heulandite $ 300 Rat's Nest Claim, Custer Co., Idaho, USA small cabinet - 6 x 5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pink Heulandite on white Mordenite from the recent (approx. 20 year old) Rat's Nest claim in Idaho. This is a particularly aesthetic example from this find, which has produced oustanding (best ever?) North American Heulandite. Individual crystals reach 3.5cm and are undamaged. Ex. Lanny Ream.
ST942 - Chalcopyrite and Siderite $ 5000 Kaiwu Mine, Hezhang Co., Bijie, Guizhou, China cabinet - 15 x 10 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brassy, metallic Chalcopyrite crystals on translucent Siderite crystals from a limited find at the Kaiwu Mine in China. These were a one time find back in 2012 or 2013 and make stunning specimens due to the contrast in color and form between the Chalcopyrite and Siderite. The Chalcopyrite is bright and metallic with a slightly reddish irridescent surface coloration. The Siderite are translucent brown and lenticular in habit. There are also small white Dolomite crystals in areas. Fifteen cm! This is a large, museum sized specimen, which was unusual for the find, that is amazingly free of any damage (most were smaller and had some damage). This association hasn't been found since.
ST948 - Tourmaline with Topaz Stak Nala, Skardu, Pakistan small cabinet - 6 x 5 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Two interconnected crystals of Topaz bisected by a single Tourmaline crystal with a touch of Albite at the base. Both of the Topaz crystals are glassy and translucent to transparent. The Tourmaline is Elbaite due to the presence of a thin green zone at the termination and provides a stark contrast between the two golden Topaz crystals. All the crystals are pristine and come together to form an aesthetic display piece. Comes mounted on a Lucite stand.
ST952 - Arsenopyrite $ 1800 Panasqueira Mines, Covilha, Castelo Branco, Portugal small cabinet - 7.5 x 4.8 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bold and dramatic bow-tie cluster of Arsenopyrite crystals from the Panasqueira Mines in Portugal. An exceptional example of a fairly common mineral, the cluster is complete all around and undamaged with bright, silvery metallic luster. Comes with a Lucite display stand. Ex. George Holloway specimen.
ST935 - Apophyllite with Stilbite $ 2500 Rahuri, Ahmadnagar Dist., Maharashtra, India small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Glassy apple-green crystals of Apophyllite in an absurdly aesthetic bow-tie cluster. This specimen is the epitome of natural art. The cluster of Apophyllite crystals are perched dramatically atop peach colored Stilbite crystals. In the world of Apophyllite specimens, one in thousand is a bow-tie formation. Of those few, 99 percent have damage of some kind. Do the math, this is a special and rare specimen. Comes with a custom Lucite display stand.
ST939 - Volkovskite Boulby Mine, Loftus, N. Yorkshire, England cabinet - 10.5 x 8.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Complete crystal group of the rare mineral Volkovskite from the Boulby Mine in England. This is one of only two known terminated crystal groups collected from a single find made deep in a section of the mine that extends out under the Altlantic ocean. The Volkovskite was found during normal mining operations for potash when the mine machinery stalled when it encountered a mass of the much harder Volkovskite. Because Volkovskite damages mine machinery, the area where it was found is now avoided and it is unclear if anymore will be recovered. This recent find of Volkovskite has set the world standard for the species and this specimen is one of the best. The specimen has crystallized surfaces all around - most were just cleavages (the cleavage structure can be seen on the bottom of this specimen, last photo).
ST946 - Dioptase $ 12000 Tsumeb, Namibia cabinet - 12 x 6 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, lustrous Dioptase crystals on white Calcite from Tsumeb, Namibia. The Dioptase crystals reach 2.3cm in size and are translucent to transparent. Although Dioptase specimens are found at other worldwide localities, those from Tsumeb, especially on white Calcite crystals, are considered the world's best and let's face it, Tsumeb is the magic word to most connoisseurs of fine mineral specimens. The Dioptase crystals show a unique fine etching that extends into the gemmy crystals. Dioptase is notoriously difficult to photograph and this is MUCH better in person. At 12cm wide, this is a large and significant Tsumeb Dioptase.
ST927 - Quartz after Anhydrite $ 1250 Irai, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil small cabinet - 9 x 4 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quartz crystals (smokey and Amethyst) replacing a long Anhydrite crystal from Brazil. This rare pseudomorph has alot of character. The shape of the former Anhydrite with Quartz crystals along the edges reminds me of a chain saw blade. Translucent to transparent, pristine with an abundance of life, a truely unique specimen. Comes with an old Ken Roberts label. Ken is a mineral dealer noted for his high level of taste and aesthetics.
ST929 - Inesite on Quartz $ 1800 Daye Mine, Hubei Prov., China small cabinet - 7.5 x 7.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Colorful combination specimen of Inesite and associated minerals from the Daye Mine in China. Bright red rosettes of Inesite to 2cm in diameter are attached to clear Quartz crystals (most Inesite has a brown component that this one is lacking). Associated minerals include Pyrite and clear, tabular Apophyllite. Comes with a custom Lucite display stand.
ST932 - Celadonite in Apophyllite Jalgaon, Maharashtra State, India small cabinet - 6.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Blocky, deep blue/green crystals of Apophyllite from India. Uncommonly high quality example of Apophyllite crystals colored blue/green due to inclusions of Celadonite. Minerals from the Deccan Plateau in India are abundant, but not like this. Pristine, uncommonly rare and aesthetic. Comes with a custom Lucite display stand.
ST928 - Azurite, Malachite, Arsentsumebite $ 1800 Tsumeb, Namibia small cabinet - 7.5 x 5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tall, slender crystal of Azurite partially pseudomorphed to Malachite with Arsentsumebite from Tsumeb. The crystal rises up off a 'matrix' of other partial crystals. The Azurite areas have glassy luster while the Malachite has a velvety luster, contributing to a contrast of textures and colors that work exceptionally well together. A Tsumeb classic... Comes with a couple old labels, including one from Anton Berger (a German mineral dealer who specialized in Tsumeb specimens) and another that shows an old price of $1250.
ST812 - Cerussite on Malachite $ 180 Rum Jungle, Northern Territories, Australia small cabinet - 5.5 x 4.2 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dozens of Cerussite 'snow flakes' on Malachite from Rum Jungle in Australia. The crystals rach 5mm in size and densely cover the green Malachite. In 1871 a bullock wagon delivering barrels of rum to construction gangs became bogged in jungle terrain near the head waters of the Finnis River. They proceeded to drink the rum in a week long party until they were rescued. The area became known as Rum Jungle.
