CT844 - McGuinnessite $ 250 (=~ AUS$ 330) Red Mountain, Mendocino Co., California, USA small cabinet - 7 x 5.5 x 1.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bubbly blue/green McGuinnessite on all sides of matrix. McGuinnessite is a rare manganese, copper, carbonate and this specimen is from the type locality of the Copper King Mine in the Red Mountain Mining District. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection. Self collected by Chuck and Al McGuinness in 1982. This was the best McGuinnessite I saw in the collection, and Chuck had it priced at $250.

Melanite crystals scattered on matrix. An excellent example with lustrous black crystals to 4mm in size. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection, collected by Chuck, Al McGuinness, and Luis Leite in 1976. One of the best Melanite specimens I saw in the collection.

Melanite crystals scattered on matrix. An excellent example with lustrous black crystals, including a large single that stands out off the matrix that is to 9mm in size. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection. Acquired by Chuck in 1992 via trade from Al McGuinness's personal collection (Al had collected or acquired it in 1980). The best Melanite specimen I saw in the collection.
