K390 - Spessartine $ 150 (=~ CAN$ 203) Nani, Loliondo, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Complete single Spessartine crystal with great orange color. These are no longer being found or at least very seldomly found anymore. A great example with good color. There is an area of black inclusions, but the large amount of transparent gem zones in the rest of the crystal more than makes of for it. Minor edge wear and a bit of dammage to one face, but complete and in overall good condition.
D349 - Liddicoatite $ 650 (=~ CAN$ 880) Betafo District, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar miniature - 4 x 2.3 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Transparent single Liddicoatite crystal with a yellow/brown base grasing up to a more reddish brown at the termination. Complete all around and somewhat rectangular in cross-section. Unusual crystal weighing 31.5 grams.

D442 - Liddicoatite $ 450 (=~ CAN$ 609) Anjanabonoina, Madagascar miniature - 5 x 4.2 x 0.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Cut and polished slice of Liddicoatite (a species of Tourmaline) from old finds in Madagascar. Cut parallel to the C-axis, the slice reveals the colorful interior of what would have appeared to otherwise be a dark crystal. Dark rind that shows areas of blue followed by a hot pink zone, and a orange/yellow transparent central zone. Well polished on both sides, weighs 23.66 grams.

This came out of an old collection without a label, but have "Butte Co." writtn on the back. It's possibly from the Surcease gold mine. Neat and unusual piece for a California collector.

D482 - Amethyst $ 375 (=~ CAN$ 508) Guateng, Pretoria District, South Africa cabinet - 12 x 8.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lustrous Amethyst Quartz crystals with two separate generations of growth. The first generation has large Amethyst crystals measuring to about 4cm thick, with the later generation being overgrowths of smaller crystals coating the sides of the larger crystals. These are known as 'Cactus Quartz' and this is a large sized example. Very clean with no significant damage, all the tips are perfect, just a bit of chipping/contact near the base. Complete all around.
