In addition to the Rhodochrosite, there are a number of glassy, pale green Fluorite crystals to 1.5cm.
SM468 - Quartz $ 150 Herkimer, New York, USA miniature - 4.9 x 3.8 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Double terminated 'Herkimer Diamond' Quartz crystal. Complete all around and undamaged.
SM469 - Calcite with Ilvaite $ 150 Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Russia small cabinet - 5.5 x 5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Interesting specimen showing 3 generations of Calcite. The top half of a scalenohedral Calcite sticks out of a wide rhombic Calcite crystal. Both were later covered by tiny black Ilvaite crystals, then all were overgrown by a final generation of transparent Calcite. You can see the tip of the scalenohedral Calcite covered by Ilvaite underneath the final transparent layer of Calcite.
SM495 - Vesuvianite $ 240 Fushan Iron Deposit, Hebei Prov., China miniature - 4 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Double-terminated rootbeer brown Vesuvianite crystal with good luster.
SM499 - Tanzanite Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.7 x 2.3 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, gemmy single Tanzanite crystal, complete and well terminated. There is an indentation from another crystal on the backside. This is a heated crystal and priced to move.
SM503 - Serandite $ 125 Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada thumbnail - 2.2 x 2.0 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rare specimen of Serandite from Mont St. Hilaire. The specimen is composed of two intergrown crystals of salmon pink Serandite with attached mica.

C631 - Stilbite on Quartz over Calcite $ 500 Jalgaon, Maharashtra State, India cabinet - 10.5 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Laterally compressed translucent white Calcite crystal completely covered by a layer of sugary Quartz crystals, with attached pink Stilbite crystals. Unusual specimen that is reminiscent of Steve Smale's specimen known as 'The Cricket Bat' (see page 117 of the Smale Collection book). A couple of the Stilbite crystals are incomplete, otherwise undamaged, with the Stilbite only on one side. I've never seen another like this.
C633 - Silver $ 450 Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 5.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Vein of white Calcite loaded with crytalline Silver with lots of exposed Silver crystals on top. SM363 - Smithsonite replacing Calcite $ 250 San Antonio Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico cabinet - 12.0 x 9.0 x 4.6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The specimen shown is a specimen that has a thin layer of yellow Smithsonite crystals covering pseudomorphed scalenohedral Calcite crystals. It's an aesthetic example of a multi-generation pseudomorph with interesting internal crystal structure showing the original Calcite crystals completely replaced with some other species, then Smithsonite covering all.
SM590 - Chrysocolla ps. after Selenite(?) $ 200 Lupoto Mine, Lubumbashi, Katanga Copper Crescent, Shaba, D.R. of Congo small cabinet - 6.6 x 5.4 x 3.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sky-blue Chrysocolla has replaced another species (possibly elongated Selenite crystals) in this pseudomorph specimen.
