The crystals are translucent and reach 1.5cm in size. There is alot of '3-dimensionality' to the overall form of the piece, giving it more character as compared to the more common flat druses of crystals.

T657 - Malachite on Chrysocolla after Malachite $ 1200 (=~ € 1102) Katanga, Congo cabinet - 10 x 8.5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() The Katanga region of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the Malachite capital of the world, yet most of the Malachite is lapidary grade with only a small percentage (usually fibrous or stalactitc specimens) being of any interest to mineral collectors. With specimens like this, Katanga can also claim to be one of the best localities for perfectly crystallized Malachite too. This specimen features perfectly formed individual crystals to 1.3 cm on a colorful and contrasting matrix of sky blue Chrysocolla. Just fabulously sharp single crystals. The Chrysocolla has partially pseudomorphed an earlier generation of Malachite crystals.
T674 - Tourmaline Cruziero Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 9 x 7 x 6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Massive single, well terminated green Tourmaline crystal with highly fibrous, hair-like structure in areas. Broad, flat termination slopes gently back towards the side wtihteh hair-like growth. This one is both good sized and exceptionally well formed (complete) and preserved. Many get smashed or dented or are only partial hemispheres. I'd say this one has about 80% coverage of what was the former nodule.
