MK165 - Apatite $ 300 Rapid Creek, Yukon Territory, Canada small cabinet - 5.3 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Purple Apatite crystals to 7mm on matrix with Siderite from the famous Yukon phosphate finds in the Rapid Creek area of Canada. This area is best known for it's superb blue Lazulites, but many other unusual and interesting minerals are found there too, including Apatite. Though white Apatite crystals are not uncommon (often associated with Lazulite), purple Apatite is rarely seen.
MK167 - Silver $ 450 Zacatecas, Mexico small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 5.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Calcite and Quartz crystal lined vug with multiple areas of Silver. The Silver occurs as thick, striated ropey wires, thin curling wires, and hackly masses.
MK173 - Sapphire $ 2000 Mahenge, Morogoro, Tanzania small cabinet - 6 x 4 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pair of large pink Sapphire crystals from Tanzania. Two hexagonal prisms that have grown side by side, the largest 6cm and doubly-terminated. Displays well from the front but backside is more rough (as shown). Glows bright red under UV light. Impressive large Sapphires!
MK176 - Austinite $ 1250 Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico cabinet - 9.5 x 6.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick botryoidal masses of translucent yellow Austinite over a Limonite matrix. Usually found as thin crusts with crystalline surfaces or small 'gumdrop' formations, this specimen is both unusual and exceptional, easily the best I've ever owned.
MK179 - Amethyst $ 350 Las Vigas, Vera Cruz, Mexico cabinet - 10 x 9 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Three large, doubly-terminated Amethyst crystals. The crystals are glassy and gemmy with the largest crystal crossing across the top and 9.2cm wide. All the large crystals are complete all around and undamaged. There is a tiny crystal growing off the largest crystal that has an indentation from another crystal, but even this one is perfect with a thin, small undamaged termination.
MK180 - Olivenite $ 250 992 Level, Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico thumbnail - 1.4 x 0.7 x 0.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cluster of well terminated Olivenite crystals from the Milpillas Mine. Like many other minerals found at this mine, these rank among the world's best for species. Slender flattened prisms with glossy luster. Complete all around and undamaged.
MK183 - Cerussite (R) $ 350 Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico miniature - 4 x 1.8 x 1.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick, transparent colorless Cerussite crystals, shocking in size and quality for the locality. This is from a recent find and look more like something you would see from Tsumeb than any I've ever seen from the Ojuela Mine. The specimen is composed of a large single crystal with a smaller V-twin attached. Unfortunately while photographing, the small V-twin detached from the main crystal and I had to therefore reattach it (the smaller crystal fits perfectly into an angular groove on the larger crystal like a puzzle piece).
MK185 - Cerussite Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico thumbnail - 3 x 2.9 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick, transparent colorless V-twin Cerussite crystal, shocking in size and quality for the locality. This is from a recent find and look more like something you would see from Tsumeb than any I've ever seen from the Ojuela Mine. The specimen is composed of a well terminated single V-twin crystal, complete all around and undamaged with the point of contact at the base of the 'V'.
MK186 - Fluorite on Quartz $ 350 Lupita Mine, Rodeo, Durango, Mexico cabinet - 10 x 6 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Purple Fluorite crystals on a white Quartz matrix. The Fluorite are transparent to translucent octahedrons modified with numerous stepped cube faces.
MK187 - Brochantite $ 600 Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico thumbnail - 1.9 x 1 x 0.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stout single Brochantite crystal from the Milpillas Mine.
