T277 - Diopside $ 700 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.4 x 1 x 0.6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Rich chrome green Diopside crystal from the famous December 2007 find that produced Diopsides with a vivid, rich green color, far and away better than average Merelani Diopside. This is a fine single crystal complete all around with good luster. Undamaged with slight intergrowths of Graphite on one side.
T563 - Diopside $ 400 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.8 x 1.1 x 0.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Single Diopside with the top chrome green coloration. A funny thing about Merelani Diopsides is that the highly transparent crystals have lighter color, and crystals like this one, with the top color, have less transparency. There are two indentations from other crystals on one narrow side, otherwise complete and undamaged all around.
T567 - Tsavorite, Diopside on Graphite $ 1600 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.9 x 1.6 x 1.6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Crystallized Graphite with light green Diopside and vivid green Tsavorite crystals. Tsavorite crystals are 8mm and very gemmy with excellent color. Undamaged, uncommon and showy Merelani combo specimen.
T935 - Tsavorite with Sphene, Diopside, Pyrite $ 500 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.3 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Formation of multiple elongated Tsavorite crystal groups with attached sphene, diopside, and Pyrite crystals. Excellent color on the Tsavorite, glassy and well crystallized all around. This style of Tsavorite is new this year and highly unusual, and a wonderful surprise from the Merelani mines. It's essentially a floater, with only the very tip of one part of the bottom as a possible point of contact. An amazing specimen!!!

There are aslo a few Graphite crystals present, with some perfect crystals included within the Diopside.
J718 - Diopside with Tsavorite $ 150 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2 x 1 x 0.7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Diopside crystals intergrown with elongated Tsavorite crystals. Crystallized all around. The Tsavorite are bright and gemmy and up to 7mm long.

K240 - Tsavorite, Diopside on Graphite $ 280 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania small cabinet - 6 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Transparent Tsavorite crystals with Diopside on a matrix of solid Graphite. The Tsavorites are gemmy with great color, largest crystal is 5mm.
K717 - Tsavorite on Diopside $ 75 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.2 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Elongated groups of Tsavorite crystals intergrown with a glassy, terminated Diopside crystal. There are also small Pyrite crystals associated.
M625 - Tanzanite with Diopside $ 500 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.8 x 3 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Uncommon and interesting Merelani specimen consisting of a 2.5cm terminated Tanzanite side-by-side with a 3cm Diopside, however the terminations are pointing in opposite directions. Never seen one like this before.
M626 - Tanzanite with Diopside $ 1500 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 3 x 2.7 x 2.1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Uncommon, aesthetic Merelani specimen consisting of two terminated Tanzanite crystals associated with Diopside. Stands upright on it's own and is complete all around. There is a small chip on the backside of the larger 3cm crystal, otherwise perfect and undamaged all around. Unheated and natural. Really stands out from the more commonly seen single crystals.
M703 - Tsavorite with Diopside $ 325 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 2 x 2 x 1.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large single Tsavorite crystal with good color. The main crystal is 2.5cm wide and displays great from the front with small Diopside crystals below. The backside (3rd photo) shows a dimpled surface from growth against Graphite crystals.
