Brilliant bright red crystals with excellent luster. Thick crystals to 1.3cm wide tightly clustered on a small amount of matrix. Vanadanite has been coming out in quantity over the years, but both quantity and quality has diminished over the past few years. I found one Moroccan miner in Tucson this year with a handful of quality pieces. Get a good one now, 3.5 x 3.1 x 2 cm.

This specimen fits right in with this year's theme of mineral oddities. The matrix is either Fluorite or Quartz casts after Calcite, with an 8.5 cm Fluorite stalactite attached to one side. The underside of the matrix has numerous large indentations and holes from the former Calcites, 12 x 7.5 x 6 cm.

This is one of two unusual crystals I picked up this year from one Paki dealer at Tucson. It is translucent yellow brown, tapering up to a rounded termination. Of the lot of crystal fragments I found only two had terminations (this being one of them). I had them analyzed, the results indicating right between Clinozoisite and Epidote.  A rare crystal form for sure, and another oddity from Zagi Mountain, 3.7 x 1 x 0.5 cm.
