Selections from the collection of Neil Levett, a former collector from Connecticut who had a large worldwide collection and was known for his love of Scheelite. He was a great guy who enjoyed talking about minerals and had the distinction of being my very first customer.
P483 - Morganite with Tourmaline $ 2500 SOLD Corrego do Urucum Pegmatite, Galileia, Minas Gerais, Brazil miniature - 4.7 x 3.4 x 2 cm
Highly transparent Morganite with attached and included dark green Tourmaline crystals. Undamaged crystal with a smooth, flat back face and a front face that projects outward in step-like fashion. Ex. Neil Levett collection. Ex. F&J Marshall collection purchased from Mineralogical Research Co. in 1999.
P485 - Kammererite $ 2500 SOLD Kop Krom Mine, Kop Daglari, Turkey thumbnail - 3.1 x 3 x 1.5 cm
Chromium rich Clinochlore varietal known as Kammererite from the world's best locality for the species. Smaller crystals covering a Chromite matrix and featuring a spectacular 1.2cm transparent crystal perched right at the top. This locality is long closed and specimens are now hard to come by. Ex. Neil Levett collection acquired from Stewart Wilensky.
P486 - Tourmaline var. Indicolite $ 2200 SOLD Ribeirao das Folhas, Minas Nova, Minas Gerais, Brazil miniature - 4.5 x 3 x 3 cm
Floater cluster of Tourmaline with attached Lepidolite. Complete all around and undamaged. While the bottom of the main crystal and the ends of the side cluster are a bit etchy, the top of the main crystal is smooth and flat and all sides have a great glassy luster. Though Afghanistan Indicolite are more well known these days, old Brazilian Indicolite are also incredible, just less available. It's a little dark under normal lighting, but backlighting reveals and incredible blue color and transparency. Weighs 38.5 grams. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P487 - Scheelite $ 950 SOLD Traversella Mine, Chiusella Valley, Torino Province, Piedmont, Italy small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 4 cm
Rare specimen of Italian Scheelite on matrix. Yellow to orange crystals that reach 4cm in size associated with books of dark green Clinochlore. An old specimen from a classic locality not commonly seen for sale. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P488 - Quartz, Prehnite, Chrysocolla, Copper(?) $ 400 SOLD Meigu, Sichuan, China small cabinet - 6 x 3.3 x 3 cm
Colorful and aesthetic specimen of clear Quartz crystals, green Prehnite, and small spheres of attached Chrysocolla. What appears to be Copper is present inside one of the smaller Quartz crystals in the center of the specimen (not the red stain under the larger crystal to the right). Uncommon old Chinese specimen. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P489 - Cinnabar on Quartz $ 750 SOLD Tongren, Guizhou, China thumbnail - 2.6 x 2.5 x 2 cm
Large drill-bit twin Cinnabar crystal (2.5cm) standing straight up on a bed of Quartz crystals. Spectacular thumbnail that glows cherry red when backlit. Complete all around and undamaged. Ex. Ron Pellar, Neil Levett collections.
P490 - Calcite with Boulangerite $ 600 SOLD Herja Mine, Maramures, Romania miniature - 3.8 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm
Three complete spherical clusters of Calcite in a 'Mickey Mouse' formation. The Calcite is dark grey due to inclusions of Boulangerite. Complete all around undamaged floater. Ex. Neil Levett collection acquired from Ross Lillie in 2002.
P491 - Zvyagintsevite $ 2000 SOLD Konder, Ayan-Maya district, Khabarovsk Krai, Russia thumbnail - 0.7 x 0.4 x 0.3 cm
Single cubic crystal of Zvyagintsevite, an ultra-rare natural alloy of Lead and Palladium. Complete all around. Has smooth faces with metallic luster on all sides and the characteristic feature of stepped growth. This resembles the Platinum crystals found at the same locality, but are much much rarer. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P492 - Szenicsite, Cuprian Powellite $ 750 Tierra Amarilla, Copiapo Province, Chile thumbnail - 1.8 x 1.5 x 1 cm
Deep green bladed crystals of Szenicsite associated with apple green Cuprian Powellite. I love the contrast of colors and form between the bright adamantine blades of Szenicsite and the translucent globular Cuprian Powellite. Szenicsite specimens are hard enough to find alone, but the combination with the Cuprian Powellite makes this rarer still. Szenicsite is a rare copper molybdate named after American mineral collectors Terry and Marissa Szenics. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P493 - Dioptase on Plancheite $ 550 SOLD Mashamba West Mine, Katanga, DR Congo miniature - 4.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm
Five crystals of Dioptase on a thin matrix composed entirely of spherical Plancheite clusters. The large crystal crossing the top is doubly-terminated and 1.9cm wide. Ex. Neil Levett collection.

P495 - Rhodonite $ 2400 SOLD Franklin, New Jersey, USA small cabinet - 6 x 5 x 4.5 cm
Bright pink crystals of Rhodonite in white Calcite and black Franklinite. The crystals reach 2cm in size and are as nice a pink color as I've seen from a Franklin Rhodonite. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
P496 - Quartz after wood $ 450 SOLD Holbrook, Navajo Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 7.8 x 4.5 x 4 cm
Quartz replacing wood (petrified wood) with an unusual green color that is caused by vanadium (note the old label says Chromium, but I understand that the color is actually due to Vanadium). Cut and polished on one side with well preserved bark on the outer edges. Ex. Neil Levett collection.
