AU158 - Wittichenite $ 2500 (=~ AUS$ 3812) SOLD Cattle Grid Pit, Mount Gunson Copper mines, Stuart Shelf, South Australia, Australia thumbnail - 1.3 x 1.1 x 0.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Single silvery metallic crystal of Wittichenite from the Cattle Grid Pit of the Mt. Gunson mine. Wittichenite is a very rare Copper and Bismuth sulfide mineral. This specimen is from a limited find in early 1980s that produce what are considered the finest known examples of the species. See the March-April 2013 issue of the Mineralogical Record for an article on this find.
LP892 - Sampleite $ 125 (=~ AUS$ 191) North Parkes Mine, near Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia miniature - 5 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a fine representative specimen from one of the most important localities for this rare copper-bearing phosphate species. This specimen was field collected pre 2012. None or very few specimens remain on the dumps of this mine. It had a very shallow oxidized zone and the future of mineral specimen production at this locality is bleak.
AU157 - Stolzite $ 450 (=~ AUS$ 686) SOLD Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia miniature - 4 x 3.3 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bladed yellow crystals of Stolzite over matrix. Good coverage of crystals with individual crystals to 8mm in size. There is damage to the crystals, still a good representative piece of a hard to find specimen.
LP894 - Manganocalcite $ 350 (=~ AUS$ 534) Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia cabinet - 13 x 11 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mound shaped clusters of soft pink Manganocalcite from Broken Hill. Better than average piece recently released from an old Australian collection and now seldom seen.
LP895 - Erythrite $ 350 (=~ AUS$ 534) SOLD Mount Cobalt Mine, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia cabinet - 10.5 x 8 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Acicular crystals of purple/red Erythrite cover the matrix from the classic Australia locality for the species. Colorful with great coverage of crystals present on both sides of specimen.
LP896 - Spessartine with Galena $ 450 (=~ AUS$ 686) SOLD Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 8 x 7 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Glossy deep red Spessartine crystals in crystallized Galena. The Spessartine crystals reach 1.5cm in size and there are 7 larger crystals and a number of smaller crystals exposed. Recently released from an old Australian collection.
LP897 - Cerussite with Malachite $ 180 (=~ AUS$ 274) Brown's Prospect, Rum Jungle, Northern Territory, Australia small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hundreds of reticulated Cerussite crystals on the front and back of the matrix. There is a vug on the 'front' filled with Cerussite over Malachite, and the back is nearly solid Cerussite crystal with just a bit of Malachite. In amazingly good condition given the huge number of Cerussites on this specimen.
LP898 - Zincian Dolomite on Coronadite stalactites $ 200 (=~ AUS$ 305) Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 9 x 6 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Metallic gray stalactites of Coronadite that are coated on all sides by white zincian Dolomite. Complete all around and undamaged.
AU159 - Mimetite $ 600 (=~ AUS$ 915) SOLD Elura Mine, Cobar, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 5.5 x 4 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Richly colored yellow Mimetite crystals from teh Elura Mine. Quality crystals in excellent condition.
AU100 - Rhodonite with Galena $ 750 (=~ AUS$ 1144) Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia miniature - 4 x 3.8 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well formed red Rhodonite crystals in a matrix of crystallized Galena. The main Rhodonite crystal is 1.5cm tall and displays perfectly.
LP900 - Inesite $ 180 (=~ AUS$ 274) Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 7 x 5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dark red acicular crystal clusters on matrix. There are several radial clusters embedded in the matrix. Better known from South Africa, here's a nice Australian example.
LP901 - Chlorargyrite $ 750 (=~ AUS$ 1144) Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 5.5 x 5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Olive green crystals of Chlorargyrite over most of the front face. The entire specimen appears to by nearly all solid Chlorargyrite. Chlorargyrite is a rare silver species that's at it's best from Broken Hill.
LP903 - Chenevixite $ 280 (=~ AUS$ 427) Ashburton Downs Station, Ashburton Shire, Western Australia, Australia small cabinet - 8 x 6.5 x 6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Box work formation of Chenevixite typical for this obscure locality. The lime green color is evident in areas without the Limonite staining. Chenevixite is an uncommon copper asenate mineral and except for the Limonite surface coatings, this appears to be composed of nearly solid Chenvixite. There are also small crystals of what I believe are Olivenite present in the vuggy areas between the boxwork.
LP905 - Cerussite with Malachite $ 180 (=~ AUS$ 274) Brown's Prospect, Rum Jungle, Northern Territory, Australia small cabinet - 5.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hundreds of reticulated Cerussite crystals on the front and back of the matrix.
