LP433 - Amethyst after Calcite $ 800 Artigas, Uruguay small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Angular cast of Amethyst crystals that formed as an epimorph atop the termination of a now gone large Calcite crystal. The smooth faces and hexagonal form the of the former Calcite are evident. The black areas are due to a layer of Hematite that was present between the Amethyst and the former Calcite. Ex. Beugerite is a rare species in the Tourmaline group. This locality (the Type locality) produces the world's best specimens. LP443 - Spessartine on Feldspar $ 2500 Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan small cabinet - 7.5 x 3.5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A large deep wine-red Spessartine crystal on white feldspar with other smaller Spessartine crystals and black crystals of what is possibly Tantalite. The main crytals is 4.5cm in size and very complex, featuring typical flat crystals faces, etched faces, and a hollow area on the left side with a mound-shaped crystal mass in the center.
