MK263 - Chalcocite $ 600 Cook's Kitchen Mine, Illogan, Cornwall, England miniature - 4.5 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Old specimen of blocky Chalcocite crystals on matrix. Lots of great crystals well dispersed across the top surface. The crystals have a slight blueish irridescence. This specimen was in the MG Weller collection and likely dates back to the 1800s. From MINDAT: From 1815 to 1897, Cook's Kitchen Mine produced 8,859 tons of black tin, 40,920 tons of 5.5% copper ore, 120 tons of arsenic and 222 tons of arsenical pyrite. It is said to have been worked for 130 years prior to 1874, and to have been one of the most productive mines in Cornwall in 1814.
