The Cuprian Smithsonite from the 79 Mine has some of the best green color from anywhere and this is a great wxample of that quality. Thick undamaged layers of satiny, translucent Smithsonite covering matrix. The color is a rich, deep green that grades to a more apple green on the far right side.

It has high luster and the transparency is way above average. The color is superb with a more yellow green on the lower half and an intense 'chrome' green at the termination. Partially double-terminated with some Calcite attached to the backside. Often called 'Chrome Tourmaline' these are a chromium and vanadium rich Dravite.

Many from this locality show a mixture of red and purple coloration, this one is almost all red with just a hint of purple coloration in one small area. A complete, translucent crystal that displays well. These are now hard to find.
