ST198 - Kolwezite on Cobaltian Calcite $ 750 (=~ ¥ 109027) SOLD Kolwezi Mining District, Lualaba, DR Congo large cabinet - 15.5 x 9 x 5.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dark olive green botryoidal Kolwezite atop rhombs of vivid pink Cobaltoan Calcite (or possibly Cobaltoan Dolomite) creating a stunning mixture of colors and forms. The large central crystal group is partially etched and reveals alternating layers of varying intensities of pink coloration. Kolwezite is a Copper Cobalt Carbonate Hydroxide and this is the type locality for the species. A beautiful large display piece and combination specimen of two desireable species together.

The Azurite crystals have great luster and the largest is approximately 2cm tall. Good crystals of Azurite are rare for this locality!

The Malachite coats the left side with the right side all Cobaltian Calcite. The area of Cobaltian Calcite includes larger more deeply colored crystals atop a druse of smaller crystals. A very colorful specimen.

C675 - Cuprite on Chrysocolla $ 1200 (=~ ¥ 174442) SOLD Mashamba West Mine, Katanga, Congo cabinet - 12 x 8 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cuprite crystals to 1.3cm on an uncommonly wide, flat Chrysocolla covered matrix. These came out years ago and are among my favorite Cuprite specimens as the Chrysocolla really sets off the Cuprite crystals. Crystals are undamaged with many more crystals present that are completely covered by the Chrysocolla. Areas of fibrous Malachite crystals enhance the look. Undamaged.

Well crystallized on both sides and shows good iridescence. This is old material from the collection of longtime African dealer Rob Smith. If you search Mindat photos for the locality, all you will find are millimeter sized crystals.
