CT802 - Tourmaline $ 6500 SOLD Terra Corrida, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 8.3 x 3.2 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, thick single Tourmaline crystal from the Terra Corrida claim in Brazil. A tri-colored crystal with an orange/red base, a more transparent bright green center, and vivid pink/red termination. The termination is pyramidal with six faces. This is a big crystal weighing approximately 170 grams (my gram scale only goes to 100 grams so I had to weigh it on my postal scale). Complete all around and undamaged though there is a relatively flat contact or shallow etching on one of bevelled termination faces.
CT844 - McGuinnessite $ 250 Red Mountain, Mendocino Co., California, USA small cabinet - 7 x 5.5 x 1.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bubbly blue/green McGuinnessite on all sides of matrix. McGuinnessite is a rare manganese, copper, carbonate and this specimen is from the type locality of the Copper King Mine in the Red Mountain Mining District. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection. Self collected by Chuck and Al McGuinness in 1982. This was the best McGuinnessite I saw in the collection, and Chuck had it priced at $250.
CT842 - Titanite (pink!) with Melanite $ 450 SOLD MT Jeannes Pit No. 2, Clear Creek, San Benito Co., California, USA small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pink Titanite (Sphene) crystals associated with black Andradite var. Melanite. This is one of only a handful of specimens found decades ago and a true rarity for a California or San Benito Co. collector. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection, collected by Chuck and Al McGuinness in 1984. This was the best pink Titanite I saw in the collection, and Chuck had it priced at $350.

Melanite crystals scattered on matrix. An excellent example with lustrous black crystals, including a large single that stands out off the matrix that is to 9mm in size. Ex. Chuck Trantham collection. Acquired by Chuck in 1992 via trade from Al McGuinness's personal collection (Al had collected or acquired it in 1980). The best Melanite specimen I saw in the collection.

CT801 - Tourmaline with Albite $ 1800 SOLD Badakhshan, Afghanistan small cabinet - 7.5 x 5.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Multi-colored 5cm Tourmaline crystal set in Albite with Quartz crystals. The Tourmaline is double-terminated with a red cap on the bottom. The rest of the crystal grades from a green core to pink, then a blue cap. The luster is matte due to a last generation of Tourmaline that grew on the surface. INterestingly, the last generation of blue Tourmaline appears to have coated the surface of the Albite which is white underneath but covered in a layer of blue. Complete all around and undamaged with amazingly perfect composition.
