21 Copper specimens from an old collection built in the 1970s-80s. An interesting mixture of worldwide localities are presented. This is part 1 - there will be at least this many more specimens posted in the coming weeks.
M378 - Copper $ 350 Kearsarge #4 Mine, Houghton Co., Michigan, USA small cabinet - 8 x 5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick, wavy sheets and masses of Copper. Specimen is almost entirely Copper with a bit of rock matrix mixed with Copper at the base.
M382 - Copper $ 180 Katherinenberg, Russia miniature - 4.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mass of crystallized Copper with good crystals on both sides. Comes with an old Kassionas Minerals label.
M377 - Copper $ 125 Ajo, Pima Co., Arizona, USA thumbnail - 2.6 x 2.3 x 0.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Diamond-shaped mass of crystallized Copper that appears to have grown in a thin seam. Criss-crossing crystals of Copper are evident along the sides.
M384 - Copper $ 125 SOLD Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 7 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Heavy nugget-like specimen of Copper from Bisbee. Appears to be nearly solid Copper with areas that have retained their bright Copper coloration.

Highly aesthtic spcimen from a locality that rarely produces attractive Coppers.
M386 - Copper $ 150 SOLD Bingham Canyon Mine, Oquirrh Mountains, Utah, USA thumbnail - 2.9 x 1.8 x 1.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mass of solid crystals from the Bingham Copper Mine. This mine is the largest man-made excavation in the world and is considered to have produced more copper than any other mine in history – more than 19 million tons. One of the largest and highest-grade porphyry orebodies in the world, the mine still produces about 1% of the world's copper. Despite the huge prduction, Copper specimens from this mine are uncommon.

M388 - Copper with Calcite, Cerussite $ 150 Tsumeb, Namibia miniature - 4 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Black rock matrix (with included crystals of an unidentified species) with white Rhombic Calcite crystals (old Fraziers label inidcates the Calcite is fluorescent). Copper runs throughout the specimen, and is exposed in the central vug area, along with a small cluster of transparent Cerussite crystals.
M389 - Copper $ 240 Mufulria Mine, Mufulria, Zambia small cabinet - 5.7 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick and sturdy specimen of Copper crystals. There are areas of trnaslucent white Calcite attached and bright, untarnished Copper is visible beneath.
M391 - Copper $ 225 Ajo, Pima Co., Arizona, USA miniature - 5 x 1.5 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Beautiful, slightly skeletal crystal of Copper. Complete all around and undamaged with a slightly irridescent surface.
M396 - Copper $ 425 Santa Rita, New Mexico, USA small cabinet - 8.5 x 7.5 x 6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Multiple somewhat flat sheets of Copper crystals that grew in fractures around the now mostly gone matrix, leaving a sculptural mass of good crystals.
M393 - Copper $ 275 Calumet, Michigan, USA small cabinet - 7.5 x 6 x 4.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Michigan Copper specimen forming a sculptural ring shaped mass that connects all the way around.
M397 - Copper $ 425 Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet - 6 x 6 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thick, heavy formation of solid Copper with a minor amount of attached Calcite. Comes with an old British Museum of Natural History label.
M394 - Copper $ 250 SOLD Ray Mine, Arizona, USA small cabinet - 6 x 4.5 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Branching, dendritic Copper crystals that cover both sides of the rock matrix and rise up plant-like above the rock.
M398 - Chalcotrichite on Copper $ 130 Ray Mine, Arizona, USA small cabinet - 5.5 x 3 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Flat sheet of Copper covered by acicular Chalcotrichite (needle-like form of Cuprite).
