K839 - Titanite with Tsavorite on Calcite $ 450 SOLD Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() A 2.2cm Titanite (Sphene) crystal standing on edge atop Calcite crystals that are in turn sprinkled with small green Tsavorite crystals. Titanite is uncommon at Merelani and this is a superb display example that would make a great addition to a Merelani suite. Undamaged and displays well from many angles.
K836 - Pyrite on Prehnite $ 325 SOLD Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.4 x 2.5 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() A 1.4cm mirror-lustrous Pyrite crystal set in yellow Prehnite crystals. I don't recall ever seeing one like this (Pyrite in Prehnite). Neither mineral is rare at the Merelani Tanzanite mines, but I've never seen them together like this. A stunner.

K797 - Spinel $ 225 Mahenge, Morogoro, Tanzania thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pink Spinel from Mahenge is world famous for incredible faceted gemstones and much of what is found is used for gems. This is an uncommon, nearly complete octahedral crystal with just a small amount of chipping on one tip, otherwise undamaged and lustrous all around. Weighs 13.37 grams.

The exotic crystal forms and high luster of Merelani Pyrite make it my favorite of any Pyrite found. This is a good example atop a small amount of Calcite and Graphite.

Of all my many years of selling Tanzanite I have never seen this color, a deep almost silky blue that reminds me of Kashmir Sapphire, hard to capture on camera. Only about 50 crystals were found and none very large. Clean and undamaged.

Compound crystal with clean, smooth faces and some stepped and cavernous growth structures on the sides. This is a big crystal that not only has size but also fine quality. These are considered by many as the best of species and are certainly the largest ever found. A crystal like this would have sold in several thousands of dollars when they were first found. Prices have come down since the initial find, but this is still a great price for a crystal like this.
