SM302 - Wolframite $ 280 (=~ € 256) SOLD Schlaggenwald, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia small cabinet - 6.3 x 5.3 x 3.2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A large and complex black wolframite crystal on a matrix of quartz and muscovite. The main crystal is large for the species with only a small portion of the lower part incomplete. Good V twin formation along left side. Bob Trimingham's detailed label notes that Richard Bideaux believed this specimen was part of 'a large and famous European Collection'. An antique mineral specimen that Bob paid $125 for some 16 years ago. Great provenance.
SM314 - Copper $ 120 (=~ € 110) SOLD Ray Mine, Gila County, Arizona cabinet - 10.5 x 9.5 x 2.0 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Flattened sheet of copper crystals with a small bit of white matrix. This specimen consists of compact, flat dodecahedral habit copper crystals that still have much of their natural patina. Ex. Robert M. Philips Collection. An Arizona classic.
SM316 - Fluorite, Galena, and Arsenopyrite $ 250 (=~ € 228) Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico small cabinet - 5.7 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Clear modified cube Fluorite crystals are seen on the tops of gray galena crystals. Also in association are numerous groups of small silver colored Arsenopyrite crystals. A classic combination suite of species from Ojuela, with Fluorite on Galena being uncommon. Undamaged floater crystallized on all sides.
SM320 - Pyrrhotite with Muscovite $ 200 (=~ € 183) Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russiaa small cabinet - 7.0 x 4.2 x 2.6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well-formed tabular, compound stacked Pyrrhotite crystals rest in a matrix of milky quartz and Calcite on this outstanding cabinet specimen from the Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dal'negorsk. It is, essentially, a 'floater' with no visible point of contact. No damage to any of the main crystals. Largest single crystal measures 3cm wide.
SM332 - Scheelite, Pyrite, and Calcite on Quartz $ 150 (=~ € 137) SOLD Hunan Province, China small cabinet - 5.8 x 2.8 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This specimen is an outstanding example of the rare combinations of species coming out of China. It's a single, double-terminated Quartz crystal that has a dense coverage of Pyrite and discoidal Calcite crystals on the bottom with the top side having dozens of small octahedral, fluorescent blue (under SW UV light) Scheelite crystals mixed in with small Pyrite crystals. A wonderful combination and beautiful, especially when seen under shortwave ultraviolet light.
SM333 - Azurite $ 120 (=~ € 110) Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Mun. de Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico small cabinet - 6.2 x 3.3 x 2.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Milpillas has produced some of the most beautiful Azurite specimens in recent time. Here's a matrix specimen with a 2cm wide group of dark, highly lustrous, inky blue crystals. All of the Azurite crystals are complete and sharply terminated.
