T691 - Tsavorite $ 400 (=~ CAN$ 549) Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania thumbnail - 1.9 x 1 x 0.8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fine quality elongated Tsavorite crystal from recent production (2017) that has been producing these stange, elongated crystals. Many of the new crystals, like this one, exhibit a faden line running up the C-axis. This is an undamaged floater cluster of a few interconnected crystals.

Totally transparent and crystalized on all sides, even the bottom. Some Tsavorites grow perched atop the edges of Graphite crystals which allows crystal faces to form on the bottom as well as the top and sides.There are residual thin black grooves on the bottom where the Graphite crystals were, otherwise fully crystallized.

Although many other localities produce good Prehnite, they are usually in rounded clusters or platy masses, not distinct individual crystals such as this. Nowhere, to my knowledge, produces as good crystals as those found at the Jeffrey Mine, but they are not well known because there just aren't many available, in fact this is only the second one I have owned.
