T659 - Tarnowitzite $ 600 (=~ CAN$ 823) SOLD Tsumeb, Namibia cabinet - 13 x 9 x 6.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large matrix specimen loaded with gemmy Tarnowitzite crystals. The matrix is coated by micro crystals giving a sugary luster, and some of the larger crystals have red areas of inclusions. In excellent condition overall as I could only find a couple missing crystals. Good on both sides.
T660 - Sugilite $ 2500 (=~ CAN$ 3431) SOLD N'Chwanning III Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, South Africa small cabinet - 5.3 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() New find of chatoyant Sugilite. Prized Sugilite specimens were first those with small crystals, then later came specimens with fibrous crystals - and now this style, the first I've ever seen like it. This is a solid seam of fibrous, chatoyant Sugilite, reportedly the best quality (though not the biggest) out of only about 5 significant pieces found. A rare and unusual specimen, but could you imagine cat's-eye Sugilite cabachons? Weighs 55.6 grams.
T661 - Chalcotrichite in Calcite with Malachite $ 2500 (=~ CAN$ 3431) SOLD Tsumeb, Namibia small cabinet - 7 x 6 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Two generations of Calcite with the later generation showing incredible orange coloration due to inclusions of Chalcotrichite. To add to the color explosion are fibrous bright green crystals of Malachite. Peeking out in areas is the first generation of Calcite, which is green due to inclusions of Dioptase This is old material from the collection of longtime African dealer Rob Smith. Sawcut on one side.
T662 - Cerussite $ 400 (=~ CAN$ 549) SOLD Tsumeb, Namibia small cabinet - 8.5 x 5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Clusters of twinned Cerussite crystals all over matrix. Great glassy crystals, some light colored and some smokey colored. Individual 'snowflakes' reach 2.2 cm. Little to no damage.
T664 - Malachite on Mimetite $ 1500 (=~ CAN$ 2058) SOLD Tsumeb, Namibia thumbnail - 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Unique thumbnail specimen of star-shaped Mimetite with attached Malachite. Fully crystallized all around with only one tiny point of contact on the backside. With a little imagination you can see a starfish with Malachite eyes and mouth. Never seen one like this before. From the collection of Rob Smith.
T666 - Norrishite with Sugilite $ 150 (=~ CAN$ 206) SOLD Wessels Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, South Africa miniature - 3.3 x 2 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() Microcrystals of Norrishite with purple Sugilite.
T667 - Cerussite $ 600 (=~ CAN$ 823) SOLD Tsumeb, Namibia small cabinet - 6.5 x 5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Cross-shaped crystal of Cerussite. There is slight edge chipping present, but the formation is different than most and unusual.
T670 - Chrysoberyl var. Alexandrite $ 800 (=~ CAN$ 1098) SOLD Novello Mine, Masvingo, Zimbabwe thumbnail - 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Intergrown sixlings of Alexandrite with good form and no damage. Translucent on edges with purple and green color change. A good one from the collection of Rob Smith. ©2010-2018 Marin Mineral |
