The crystal has a 1cm thick blue zone at the termination followed by a 1.5 cm thick purple zone over a darker core. The color is spectacular!! It is a little dark in ambient light but with backlighting the color really comes out. Local collector Jack Halpern dislays his Tourmalines all lined up in a case backed by translucent white plastic that is backlit, which really highlights the colors of his Tourmaline.
