E240 - Malachite after Cuprite on Azurite $ 650 SOLD Chessy, Rhone-Alpes, France thumbnail - 2.9 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm ![]() ![]() 9mm octahedral crystal of Malachite after Cuprite set in a flaoter cluster of crystallized Azurite. Historic specimen dating back to the 1800s, the locality is long closed. Usually found as loose singles, Malchite after Cuprites set in Azurite are uncommon.

Selected faces are glassy while others are frosted. Though some of the faces are frosted, it is internally transparent. One shallow cleave present, otherwise undamaged. This is a large spinel twin. Minor Pyrite in association.

A complete and glassy crystal with great color, translucent to transparent. Some chipping present but mostly undamaged. Rare to find crystal from a long defunct locality.

Back crystal is 2cm while the front crystal is 1.5cm tall and nicely shows twinning striations.
