AF929 - Dravite $ 350 SOLD Nchongo, Umba Valley, Tanzania small cabinet - 2.2 x 2 x 1.3 cm ![]() ![]() Single Dravite crystal exhibiting the "Usambara effect" color change (named after nearby mountains). This is a different type of color change than the Alexandrite effect, where the color changes in different types of lighting. In this case, the Dravite crystal appears green in normal lighting, however when a single light source is transmitted through the crystal, at a certain thickness, a sudden color shift from green to red is observed, while less thick areas remain green. Well terminated, complete crystal.

The crystals has a great green color and is translucent with lots of gemmy zones. Undamaged specimen that stands out amongst others from this locality.

A866 - Zoisite $ 1400 SOLD Alchuri, Skardu District, Pakistan thumbnail - 2.6 x 2 x 1.1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Green "Tanzanite" crystal from Pakistan. These have always been intriguing to me as only the second locality I'm aware of that produces gem quality Zoisite, however production was always very sporadic and nothing has been turning up for years. I bought this about 15 years ago and it has been in my collection ever since. The left side of the crystal has some gemmy zones with great green coloration. Complete all around.

The green band is unusually distinct. A somewhat flattened crystal which really allows the light to pass through and show off the colors. Lustrous and undamaged.
