ST397 - Galena Treece, Kansas, USA small cabinet - 9 x 6 x 5.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bright metallic Galena cubes to 2.5cm on a silicified limestone matrix with red 'Ruby-Jack' Sphalerite crystals, Dolomite, and Calcite crystals from Treece, Kansas. The Galena are present on one side, but the specimen detached in the pocket and the Sphalerite and Calcite are present on all sides, making this a floater.
B169 - Fluorite Dal'Negorsk, Primorsky Kray, Russia cabinet - 10 x 5.5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() A 4cm Fluorite cube on matrix with Sphalerite. The Fluorite is a sea foam green with inclusions of white Aragonite needles. Fluorites from this find and this particular color are uncommon and hard to find. There is minor chipping present, otherwise the crystal is pristine with glassy luster and razor sharp edges. A hard to find piece for a Fluorite collector.
T430 - Cuprian Smithsonite Kamareza Mine, Laurium, Greece small cabinet - 6.5 x 5 x 4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Satiny, globular crystals of Cuprian Smithsonite on a limonite matrix. Ex. Robert Philips collection.
B770 - Hutchinsonite with Orpiment Quiruvilca, La Libertad Dept., Peru cabinet - 10 x 9 x 8 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Large Pyrite rich matrix with botryoidal Orpimnet and red crystals of Hutchinsonite. Hutchinsonite is a rare thallium sulfosalt species and these recently found red crystals are some of the best ever found. Crystals reach 7mm long and contrast nicely against the Orpiment.
B674 - Malachite after Azurite Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico cabinet - 10 x 7.5 x 6 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Bright velvety Malachite that have replaced large Azurite crystals. Crystals reach 3.5cm wide. There is Azurite throughout the matrix providing color contrast, and the whole specimen has a little more flair and pizzaz than the typical Mal/Az psuedos from here.
B663 - Sphalerite Pierrepont Mine, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence Co., New York small cabinet - 6 x 5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Bright, jewel-like golden Sphalerite crystals set in a vug in Magnetite. The whole specimen, even the matrix, is bright and just sparkles. Excellent quality Sphalerite and hard to get specimen. Better than photos.
B624 - Manganite Ilfeld, Harz Mts., Thuringia, Germany small cabinet - 5.5 x 4.5 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Not your typical druse of Manganite crystals. This specien features a lustrous, metallic, jet-black, striated, manganite crystal of 1.8 cm rising out of an open vug. The vug is set in massive crystalline manganite lined with a bit of barite for contrast. These old Ilfeld Manganites are regarded as the world's best for species and came out in late 1800s.
B504 - Pyrite in Quartz Saline Valley, California small cabinet - 5.8 x 2.7 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Transparent, water clear Quartz crystal with included Pyrite crystals. Rare to find crystal from a little known locality. A little chatter along a couple edges, but mostly perfect condition.
B503 - Pyrite in Quartz Nuristan, Afghanistan small cabinet - 6.2 x 3.3 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Transparent Quartz crystal with included green Rutile crystals and a superb cube of Pyrite. The pyrite cube is good sized at about 5mm on edge and is readily visible in the Quartz.
B406 - Azurite Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico miniature - 4 x 2.2 x 1.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Single large, thick Azurite crystal with a tiny amount of matrix attached to one side. Slight chipping present but overall very clean and complete all around.
B304 - Azurite, Malachite Volborthite Pocket, Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico thumbnail - 2.1 x 1.4 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() Azurite crystal grouping with attached Malachite. The Azurite has a waxy to satiny luster and is brilliantly translucent when backlit. From a single pocket opened in April 2015 that produced a limited number of specimens. A couple chips, otherwise undamaged.
T471 - Parisite Mt. Malosa, Zomba, Malawi small cabinet - 5.5 x 4 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() Exceptionally large 5.5cm Parisite crystal with attached Quartz crystals. Complete all around and undamaged. As big a Parisite as I've ever seen.
B134 - Anatase Kharan Mountain, Balochistan, Pakistan cabinet - 11 x 8 x 7 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mirror-bright Anatase crystals to 9mm on matrix with Quartz and Albite. Five larger crystals with more smaller crystals present. Undamaged.
B109 - Anatase Kharan Mountain, Balochistan, Pakistan small cabinet - 7.5 x 7 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Anatase crystals to 1.1cm on an Albite coated matrix with gem transparent Quartz crystals. The Quartz are hard to see in the photos (they are exceptionally clear!), but they are really nice.
TU231 - Dravite Mwajanga, near Komolo, Tanzania small cabinet - 5.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Gem quality rootbeer brown Dravite crystal with a complex, stepped termination. An unusual feature of this crystal is a thin horzontal zone of cat's-eye that runs through the middle of the crystal, causing it to slightly offset, how this formed is a mystery to me. Complete and undamaged.
