AF584 - Sphene $ 650 SOLD
near Mahenge, Tanzania
miniature - 3.5 x 2.5 x 0.9 cm



Bright, neon green Sphene crystal from a new find. There was very litttle of this material found, and most was only suited for gem rough, so although there is a contact on one edge and another edge is cleaved, it is in in the top percentile of what has been found. Very gemmy with good luster, 62 carats, 3.5 x 2.5 x 0.9 cm.

Terminated deep green Chromian rich Diopside crystal. This crystal came from a pocket opened in December 2007 that produced crystals of exceptional color, much better than typical Merelani Diopsides. Great luster, complete all around and undamaged with a small Graphite crystal at the base, size 4.4 x 1 x 0.6 cm.

Terminated deep green Chromian rich Diopside crystal. This crystal came from a pocket opened in December 2007 that produced crystals of exceptional color, much better than typical Merelani Diopsides. For more information on this find, refer to page 77 of the January-February 2009 issue of the Mineralogical Record. Great luster, complete all around and undamaged except for one small cleavage face along the lower 1.5 cm of one small face, size 4.1 x 0.9 x 0.8 cm.
