SM449 - Rhodochrosite with Fluorite $ 220 Sunnyside Mine, Silverton, Colorado, USA small cabinet - 5.9 x 4 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rhombic Rhodochrosite crystals to 1.5cm on a Quartz crystal covered matrix. In addition to the Rhodochrosite, there are a number of glassy, pale green Fluorite crystals to 1.5cm.
SM450 - Hemimorphite $ 150 Summit Mine, Broadwater Co., Montana, USA small cabinet - 7 x 6.5 x 5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Large open vug in matrix lined with Hemimorphite crystals to about 1cm in length. The Summit Mine produced what are likely the best USA Hemimorphites ever found. This is a fine example.
SM468 - Quartz $ 150 Herkimer, New York, USA miniature - 4.9 x 3.8 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Double terminated 'Herkimer Diamond' Quartz crystal. Complete all around and undamaged.
SM469 - Calcite with Ilvaite $ 150 Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Russia small cabinet - 5.5 x 5 x 2.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Interesting specimen showing 3 generations of Calcite. The top half of a scalenohedral Calcite sticks out of a wide rhombic Calcite crystal. Both were later covered by tiny black Ilvaite crystals, then all were overgrown by a final generation of transparent Calcite. You can see the tip of the scalenohedral Calcite covered by Ilvaite underneath the final transparent layer of Calcite.
SM480 - Pyrite $ 320 Navajun, La Rioja, Spain small cabinet - 5.4 x 5.4 x 5.3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large single Pyrite cube from this famous Pyrite locality. This is uncommonly big, and was significant enough to held in a collection for years. There is one defect where the old collection label is still affixed, otherwise perfect all around.
SM489 - Tourmaline $ 260 Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego Co., California, USA thumbnail - 2 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Complete, terminated crystal of gemmy pink with a green cap. Areas look facet quality. Undamaged, weighs 8.4 grams.

SM498 - Calcite on Ferberite $ 260 Panasquiera, Portugal small cabinet - 6.5 x 4 x 1.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Exquisite crystal of Ferberite with the backside coated by white Calcite crystals. The Ferberite had an unusual curving form and is highly aesthetic and very lustrous. Fine and unusual specimen. Undamaged.
SM499 - Tanzanite $ 750 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.7 x 2.3 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large, gemmy single Tanzanite crystal, complete and well terminated. There is an indentation from another crystal on the backside. This is a heated crystal and priced to move.
SM503 - Serandite $ 90 Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada thumbnail - 2.2 x 2.0 x 1 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Two intergrown crystals of salmon pink Serandite with attached mica.
SM516 - Pyrite $ 600 Huanzala Mine, Peru small cabinet - 9 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Large 4.5cm Pyrite crystal atop smaller crystals. Specimen is composed solid, highly lustrous Pyrite. Bright and showy.
SM512 - Brucite $ 450 Killa Saifullah, Balochistan, Pakistan small cabinet - 6 x 4 x 3 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() pinwheel formation of translucent yellow Brucite on matrix from recent finds in Pakistan. Undamaged and good from both sides. Reminiscent of a Mapimi Adamite.
SM530 - Prehnite $ 280 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.5 x 3 x 2.2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cluster of translucent yellow Prehnite crystals. Such yellow Prehnites have come from Merelani sporadically over the years, but never before in the quality that has been found in the last year. This specimen has big chunky crystals that stick out in various directions. Some chipping, but nearly a floater crystalled all around, a good one for the find.
C631 - Stilbite on Quartz over Calcite $ 500 Jalgaon, Maharashtra State, India cabinet - 10.5 x 4 x 2 cm ![]() ![]() ![]() Laterally compressed translucent white Calcite crystal completely covered by a layer of sugary Quartz crystals, with attached pink Stilbite crystals. Unusual specimen that is reminiscent of Steve Smale's specimen known as 'The Cricket Bat' (see page 117 of the Smale Collection book). A couple of the Stilbite crystals are incomplete, otherwise undamaged, with the Stilbite only on one side. I've never seen another like this.
