C456 - Quartz $ 1250 Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Region, Namibia cabinet - 11 x 8.5 x 8 cm Matrix Quartz specimen featuring a stunning 6cm transparent crystal rising out of a Quartz and Calcite crystal lined vug. The crystal has a sharp smokey phantom and red Hematite inclusions. Perfect and undamaged. Flat, sawcut base.
C485 - Azurite with Malachite $ 3500 Tsumeb, Namibia cabinet - 10 x 5 x 4.5 cm Azurite partially altered to Malchite, with the Malachite forming fine 'bulls-eye' patterns. The Azurite is sharply formed with lustrous faces. The back is a large 10cm partial crystal and there are 2 terminated Azurite crystals attached to the front, the best is 5cm tall and grown out away from the largest crystal.
C500 - Azurite with Malachite (R) $ 5000 Christiana Mine, Lavrion District, Greece small cabinet - 6.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm Interconnected spherical clusters of Azurite with minor amounts of attached Malchite. This is a superb Greek Azurite specimen and was photographed in Lapis magazine. It is a floater specimen well crystallized all around and has one repair. Extraordinary color!
C560 - Covellite $ 3800 Annie Vein, Summitville, Colorado, USA small cabinet - 7.5 x 7 x 6 cm Irridescent blades of Covellite crystals in a few different areas on matrix. Ex. J.H. Marshall Jr. and Geary Murdock collections and comes with three old labels. One label indicates 'exceptionally well crystallized Covellite. One of the finest specimens I have ever seen from this locality'.
C564 - Fluorite with Quartz $ 1200 Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan, China small cabinet - 6.2 x 6 x 4 cm Color-zoned purple/blue Fluorite cube with 5 terminated Quartz crystals grown along the sides. Two small trivial nicks otherwise pristine. Wonderful transparency and aesthetics.
SM499 - Tanzanite Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania miniature - 3.7 x 2.3 x 1 cm Large, gemmy single Tanzanite crystal, complete and well terminated. A large and impressive gem crystal with strong color. It's complete all around with glassy luster and only a small indentation from another crystal on the backside. This is a heated crystal and priced to move, would otherwise cost about $3,000-$4,000.
C683 - Thaumasite $ 1500 N'Chwanning Mine, Kuruman, South Africa miniature - 3.4 x 3 x 1.3 cm Thaumasite is a rare mineral in the Ettringite group, the best were found at the N'Chwanning. This is a rare matrix specimen - you used to be able to find small single crystals but now even those are hard to find. Matrix specimens were always uncommon, and I have only ever had one before, a similar piece to this one that I paid a similar price to Katherine Woest about 15 years ago. Crystals are a transparent yellow and reach 5mm in diameter. White tufts of Xonotlite are dispersed between the Thaumasite crystals.
C691 - Wulfenite $ 1800 Red Cloud Mine, Trigo Mtns., Arizona, USA small cabinet - 8 x 6.5 x 2.5 cm Flat matrix with red/orange Wulfenite crystals to 2cm. Undamaged - I can't find a single chip on any of the crystals. Ex. Jelks collection.
C693 - Liddicoatite $ 2300 Betafo District, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar miniature - 4.5 x 2.6 x 2.5 cm Thick single Liddicoatite crystal with lots of color variation as you move up the crystal, ending in a transparent, colorless 'Achroite' termination. In excellent condition with perfect, glassy termination faces and just a small bit of edge wear on one edge near the base, otherwise complete all around and undamaged. Weighs 50.76 grams.
C695 - Copper $ 3500 Houghton Co., Keweenaw Penisula, Michigan, USA small cabinet - 8.7 x 6 x 3 cm Cluster of large, well formed Copper crystals with good patina in colors of reds to browns. Undamaged.
C698 - Tourmaline $ 1500 Paprok, Nuristan, Afghanistan small cabinet - 6.3 x 1 x 1 cm Classic Paprok Tourmaline in colors of pink and greens. Good transparency and overall brightness. Undamaged with attached lepidolite. Weighs 14.84 grams.
C704 - Clinoatacamite with Calcite $ 1250 Lily Mine, Ica Department, Peru miniature - 5 x 3.5 x 3 cm Large and especially fine quality Clinoatacamite crystals with white Calcite over a layer of Malachite. These are regarded as the world's best Clinoatacamite specimens, and this is a good one. The crystals are all pristine. They were protected by a layer of Selenite that I dissolved away, leaving these perfect crystals. Individual crystals reach 1.3cm wide. The Lily Mine is now closed.
J762 - Dioptase $ 1250 Mindouli District, Brazzaville, Congo small cabinet - 8.5 x 7.5 x 2.5 cm Slightly cup-shaped formation of solid Diptase. One side shows nothing but bright, lustrous Dioptase crystals with occasional tiny yellow Wulfenites. The other side shows cup-shaped formations of Dioptase, Dioptase crytals, and about 30% coverage of a lighter green mineral with a form of small apple-green translucent globules. This one has both a flashy, showy display side and another side that's interesting under the loupe.
J971 - Hutchinsonite with Pyrite $ 1250 Quiruvilca, La Libertad Dept., Peru cabinet - 12 x 8 x 2.5 cm Pyrite and red crystals of Hutchinsonite on matrix. Hutchinsonite is a rare thallium sulfosalt species and these recently found red crystals are some of the best ever found. Crystals reach 8mm long and contrast nicely with the Pyrite. Undamaged with an even distribution of both species across the front face. About as nice a Hutchinsonite specimen as you could expect and the best one I've ever had.
D152 - Prehnite $ 1800 Merelani Hills, Arusha, Tanzania cabinet - 12.5 x 7.5 x 6 cm Large, catepillar-like formation of Prehnite crystals. A very interesting specimen for it's unique form, distinct crystals, and coloration (way better than photos - the camera didn't pick up the blue green color well). New finds at Merelani have produced Prehnites with a color I've not seen before, sort of a mixture of both green and blue. This specimen features both typical lemon yellow and the new blue/green colored crystals. While most Prehnites from other parts of the world occur as botryoidal masses or spheres, Merelani produces well formed, distinct crystals, and this specimen is loaded wtih them. It has double-terminated clusters to 5cm and individual crystals to 3cm. There is one small smooth area where it contacted a Calcite crystal, otherwise it's a floater covered by crystals on all sides, with little if any damage. One of the best, if not the best, Merelani Prehnite I've had. Minor Pyrite and Graphite in association.
