B560 - Azurite with Malachite $ 4000
Anhui Province, China
cabinet - 14.5 x 12.5 x 5.5 cm

Azurite with Malachite from Anhui Province, China [db_pics/pics/b560a.jpg] Azurite with Malachite from Anhui Province, China [db_pics/pics/b560b.jpg] Azurite with Malachite from Anhui Province, China [db_pics/pics/b560c.jpg]

Shockingly bright, electric blue Azurite crystals lining a large, shallow vug. The color is a more dark, vibrant royal blue than the photos indicate. The photos also don't capture the bright reflections of the crystals - they look like blue foil. These are so incredibly bright I had to take a second look to make sure they weren't Linarite or some other species. I've never Azurite seen like this before, though I have heard Bisbee produced similar Azurites to this at one time. The backside is sawn revealing another small vug containing typical, darker blue Azurite crystals. If you want to add a large amount of bright blue to your case, this is the one.

The Azurite has a waxy to satiny luster and is brilliantly translucent when backlit. From a single clay-filled pocket opened in April 2015 . There is a small nick on the upper right crystal, otherwise undamaged.

B664 - Azurite $ 1200
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico
small cabinet - 7.5 x 6.5 x 2.5 cm

Exceedingly showy, bright Azurite crystals. Great color and 'wet' luster. The only detraction, and what keeps this from being a $5000 specimen, is one broken off crystal at the bottom near the edge. A good flat plate of crystals with individuals to 2cm wide at the termination.
