LP105 - Fluorite on Quartz Huanggang Mine, Inner Mongolia, China small cabinet - 8 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm Inky, translucent blue Fluorite crystals partially coating Quartz crystals. This is a superb example from this occurrence, one of the best I've seen. Pristine and undamaged all around. Ex. Len Pisciotta collection and comes with an old Andy Seibel label.
LP242 - Copper (cubes!) $ 2000 Lake Superior Copper District, Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan, USA miniature - 5 x 3.5 x 2 cm Cluster of cubic Copper crystals with dark patina. I love cubic Copper crystals and this is nothing but crystals with individuals to 1cm in size. Ex. Mike Martin, Ben Vone collections.
LP243 - Aquamarine $ 2000 Thuong Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Prov., Vietnam cabinet - 9.7 x 2 x 1.8 cm Tall single, deep blue Aquamarine crystal from Vietnam. Terminated with a flat, glassy termination, it's a gemmy crystal with the deep blue color Vietnamese Aqua are known for. Undamaged crystal with a shallow groove running up the backside where another crystal grew against it, and small etched areas near each end. Weighs 67.1 grams.
LP245 - Silver on Quartz, Epidote $ 3800 Mass Mine, Mass City, Ontonagon Co., Michigan, USA thumbnail - 3 x 3 x 3 cm Silver crystals on Quartz from the Mass Mine in Michigan. Bright, well crystallized silver that contrasts well against the white Quartz and green Epidote. The Mass Mine is a historic Copper mine that operated from 1856 to 1888.
LP249 - Smithsonite $ 2000 Tsumeb, Namibia small cabinet - 7.5 x 5 x 4 cm Cluster of elongated pink Cobaltian Smithsonite crystals on matrix from Tsumeb. These eleongated crystals are rare for Smithsonite, with crystals on this specimen to over 2cm in length. There are some broken crystals in the mix with the perfect crystals. A fine and rare display specimen that comes with a custom Lucite base. Ex. Alex Neufeld collection.
LP366 - Scheelite on Muscovite $ 1200 Mt Xuebaoding, Ping Wu, Sichuan Prov., China cabinet - 11.5 x 8.5 x 4.5 cm Cluster of transparent to translucent Scheelite octahedra well centered on a Muscovite crystal covered matrix. The Scheelite reach 4cm in size. Saw cut on back.
LP367 - Fluorite $ 2500 Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan, China miniature - 3.5 x 3 x 3 cm Penetration twin of transparent purple Fluorite crystals from the Yaogangxian Mine in China. Highly transparent (looks like purple glass!) and wonderful aesthetics. There are highly lustrous faces on the front and right side with frosted faces on the left and parts of top and back faces. A fine miniature Fluorite of exceptional beauty. The photos don't convey how transparent and bright this is.
LP376 - Azurite with Malachite $ 2500 Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico small cabinet - 9 x 8.5 x 4.5 cm Striking specimen with well isolated Azurite crystals standing upright and a light colored rock matrix. The crystals reach 2.6cm in size with one being almost completely pseudomorphed to Malachite with only a thin veneer of Azurite remaining. There are 5 main crystals in perfect condition with a few smaller Azurite and small tufts of Malachite. Saw cut on base.
LP378 - Bournonite $ 1500 Machacamarca District, Potosi Department, Bolivia small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 5 cm Matrix specimen loaded with large silvery metallic 'cogwheels' of Bournonite. The crystals reach 2.5 cm wide and are present on front, sides and back (both front and back shown in photos). All are in good condition except one on the back and one on the left side with a chip facing towards the back. There are small Pyrite and Sphalerite crystals coating the matrix.
LP438 - Morganite (etched) $ 1200 Sao Geraldo do Baixio, Minas Gerais, Brazil cabinet - 10 x 6.5 x 3.3 cm Large and glassy single pink Beryl var. Morganite. Though etched, it is highly lustrous and the original hexagonal form is obvious and has uniform shape and flat front, back, and edge faces. Comes with a custom Lucite display stand. Ex. Len Pisciotta collection.
LP443 - Spessartine on Feldspar $ 2500 Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan small cabinet - 7.5 x 3.5 x 3 cm A large deep wine-red Spessartine crystal on white feldspar with other smaller Spessartine crystals and black crystals of what is possibly Tantalite. The main crytals is 4.5cm in size and very complex, featuring typical flat crystals faces, etched faces, and a hollow area on the left side with a mound-shaped crystal mass in the center. The main crystal is fully crystallized all around and nearly pristine. Ex. Len Pisciotta collection and one of my favorite pieces in the collection.
LP603 - Phenakite $ 1500 Rio Piracicaba, Carai, Minas Gerais, Brazil thumbnail - 2 x 1.8 x 1.1 cm Fine quality single crystal of Phenakite from old finds in Brazil. Complete gemmy crystal with lustrous glassy faces. Well crystallized on the front, edges, and most of the back side. Ex. Bill and Ann Cook collection.
LP605 - Tourmaline with Quartz (R) $ 3500 Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego Co., California, USA small cabinet - 6.8 x 3.2 x 2 cm Branching, multi-colored Tourmaline specimen from the gem pegmatites of southern California. Gemmy green crystals with rose-colored terminations(more red than typical pink). This is unusual in that most Himalaya Mine Tourmaline are single crystals and this branching specimen, with an attached doubly-terminated Quartz, is particularly aesthetic. The large Tourmaline is also doubly-terminated. Ex. Tim Sherburn collection. Tim's label notes that it was self-collected by Tim in 1989 during a collecting trip with Peter Lyckberg. It has an indentation from another crystal on the side, and has one repair. This was one of Tim's most prized specimens in his collection and was shown on the first page of Tim's section in the California collector edition of the Mineralogical Record.
LP780 - Datolite $ 1200 N'Chwanning II Mine, Northern Cape Prov., South Africa small cabinet - 6.5 x 4.5 x 4 cm Rare pink Datolite crystals from old, limited finds at the N'Chwanning Mine. The crystals are a well saturated pink color, lustrous with a soft glow similar to Rose Quartz when held near a light source. There is a wonderful small stalactite growth in the center and the bottom is also covered with crystals. Ex. Marshall Sussman personal collection.
LP842 - Galena (skeletal) $ 1200 9th of September Mine, Madan, Bulgaria cabinet - 10 x 6 x 5.5 cm Cluster of hoppered (skeletal) Galena crystals from the 9th of September Mine in Bulgaria. These are true skeletal Galena (not the man-made variety that were circulating years ago!) and occur with Sphalerite and Pyrite crystals. Undamaged and well crystallized all around, essentially a floater.
