Undamaged 1.2cm Cerussite crystal on matrix with Dioptase crystals. There is also a light powder blue mineral in areas on the matrix.

T601 - Dioptase on Chrysocolla over Cerussite $ 550
Sanda Mine, Mindouli, Congo
thumbnail - 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm

Old specimen composed of a reticulated 'snowflake' of Cerussite that has been coated by Chrysocolla with Dioptase crystals attached to one side. All the Dioptase aren't in perfect condition, but I think it displays best from the side without the Dioptase anyways. This was recently released from a collection and I've never seen one like it before. The label notes that it was purchased from John Seibel in 1997. A rare and unusual thumbnail!

T607 - Dioptase in Quartz $ 1500
Kaokaveld, Namibia
miniature - 4.7 x 3.0 x 3 cm

Rare specimen of Dioptase crystals included in Quartz. These are not often seen and it's the only one I've ever owned. There were a handful of specimens from the Congo with slightly bigger Quartz crystals and included Dioptase crystals that sold in the $25K-$35K range. In this specimen, the Dioptase crystals settled on an earlier generation of yellow colored Quartz (which I understand is caused by Sulfur).

T824 - Dioptase on Shattuckite $ 1500
Kaokaveld, Namibia
miniature - 5 x 3.5 x 3 cm

Colorful specimen of thick Dioptase cluster on blue Shattuckite. The Dioptase cluster is 2.3cm tall and undamaged.

Republic of Congo [db_pics/pics/t827d.jpg] Shattuckite over Dioptase over Calcite from Tantara Mine, Katanga, Dem. Republic of Congo [db_pics/pics/t827e.jpg]

Large open vug of blue Shattuckite over Dioptase. The Dioptase formerly covered larger Calcite crystals, which are now gone, only the tips of one or two crystals can be seen on the backside now, however their form is clearly evident from the inside of the vug. The specimen is almost entirely Dioptase and Shattuckite. An unusual feature of this specimen is the light, pearly luster on the surface of the Shattuckite, which is more typically a darker, matte luster. Rare and unusual.

C253 - Dioptase on Calcite $ 2000
Tsumeb, Namibia
miniature - 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm

Outstanding thumbnail sized specimen of Dioptase crystals on white Calcite crystals. Main Dioptase is an undamaged 1.6cm crystal. There is one small cleaved crystal on the lower right (that could be trimmed away), all other crystals undamaged.

C374 - Dioptase $ 3500
Tsumeb, Namibia
small cabinet - 9 x 6.5 x 3 cm

Bright and gemmy Dioptase crystals covering matrix. There are a couple damaged crystals present but the vast majority are perfect and the luster and transparency are great. This is out of an old collection built in the 1970s and on the market for the first time since then.

C379 - Dioptase $ 500
Mindouli, Katanga, Congo
cabinet - 12 x 8 x 7 cm

Large specimen of solid Dioptase with an 8cm wide crystal lined vug filled with large Dioptase crystals.

C405 - Dioptase $ 200
Altyn-Tyube, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan
small cabinet - 8 x 5 x 3 cm

Dioptase from Altyn-Tyube, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan [db_pics/pics/c405a.jpg] Dioptase from Altyn-Tyube, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan [db_pics/pics/c405b.jpg]

Highly bright and lustrous Diotase crystals over most of the matrix. The color and luster are top for the locality, and you get alot of Dioptase for your dollar as compared to Tsumeb specimens. Some bruising near edges but the majority are perfect and undamaged.

C438 - Dioptase on Shattuckite after Cuprite $ 1250
Tantara Mine, Katanga, Congo
miniature - 4 x 3 x 2 cm

Rare psuedomorph of royal blue Shattuckite that has replaced Cuprite crystals. This of one of the rarer Tantara psuedomorphs, and one of only a very few I've ever seen. The entire specimen is composed of somewhat flat, interlocking octahedral crystals to 2cm in size. There is an area of Dioptase crystals in the center, some of which are broken. A true rarity!
