Wow! Trichroic, double terminated Tanzanite, and if that was not good enough, bright Pyrite crystals to 4mm provide added appeal. There are also large gem zones within. Color is purple on the main display face, blue when viewed from the side, and purplish red when you shine a light up the C-axis. One ding on the side of the small side crystal, otherwise perfect all around and double terminated. Illustrated in the Sept.-Oct. 2009 issue of the Mineralogical Record (Figure 78, page 383). Intergrown, diverging Tanzanite crystals. The crystals themselves are perfect, both gemmy with great luster and undamaged. The formation is spectacular in aesthetics and, I am told, in rarity, with only a dozen or so of this type known and the only other one like this I have seen was repaired down the middle. Small Pyrite crystals are attached to the rehealed base. This specimen has lots of mineralogical interest and appeal.
