Cuprite with Copper and Silver

As with the previous 2 years, one of the most interesting items at the Tucson show continued to be the Cuprite with Copper and Silver and psuedomorphs of Copper after Cuprite from Russia.  Nearly every Russian dealer had a least some of these specimens, with the vast majority being loose singles or clusters of Cuprite, mostly incomplete or damaged in some way.  I selected early from 4 dealerships choosing specimens of Cuprite atop Copper, complete and undamaged crystals, and specimens of Cuprite paritially psuedomorphed to Copper. Eight of the small specimens below were held back for me as a lot based on their uniqueness and quality. All the Russian dealers I spoke with said this mine was now mostly closed, with no more specimens being found.

This spceimn has a stack of 3 nearly complete psuedomorphs with a fourth crystal that retains a good amount of the original Cuprite. Complete all around, floater specimen.

Outstanding cluster of Copper psuedomorphs after Cuprite crystals. Complete, undamaged and 3-dimensional specimen with the top crystal only partially replaced and 2 attached Cuprite crystals, with areas of Silver. It's a little hard to see the crystal form in the photos, but the psuedos show good octahedral form.

Complete single Cuprite crystal of impressive size with Silver attached to the crystal faces. The size alone (3.2cm tip to tip) would make this a great addition to a single crystal collection, the rare association of the Silver makes this even more special. Undamaged.

Cuprite crystals to 1.8cm on edge atop a large psuedomorph of copper after Cuprite. Three non-psuedomorphed crystals on the top left and center with the right top crystal partially psuedomorphed. Super display and hard to find of this type and quality. There is also Silver between the Cuprites and covering a small Cuprite on the bottom front that is attached to the psuedomorphed crystal. I turned it upside down in one photo to better show the psuedomorph that forms the base. Specimens like this are hard to find.
