ST729 - Almandine Garnet Ledge, Wrangell Island, Alaska, USA small cabinet - 8 x 6 x 3.5 cm Specimen of Almandine garnet crystals in schist matrix from the well known Wrangell Island locality in Alaska. The crystals reach 1.5cm wide with purple/red coloration and translucency and are well exposed from the schist. This one is loaded with crystals - the collector must have been very happy to find this one with 5 good crystals in one small piece of schist. A USA classic.
SV318 - Almandine Green's Farm locality, Roxbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, USA small cabinet - 6 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm Old USA classic Almandine specimen with a complete purple-red dodecahedron 2.3cm wide. The Almandine sits perfectly for display in a gray/green schist matrix. A good-sized crystal for the locality which is now closed to collecting.
SV413 - Mottramite Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico cabinet - 9.5 x 6.5 x 4.5 cm Botryoidal Mottramite from the big find in 2011 at the Ojuela Mine that produced some of the world's best Mottramite. The Mottramite has a green/yellow color and a somewhat organic-looking appearance.
SV430 - Quartz over Malachite, Cobaltian Calcite Luambo Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo small cabinet - 9 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm Lustrous, clear Quartz crystals covering Malachite and bright pink Cobaltoan Calcite. It has a beautiful contrast in colors and a bright, attractive overall appearance. One of the best pieces from a small lot from several years ago and I've not seen this material again.
SV459 - Copper with Prehnite Osceola Mine, Houghton Co., Michigan, USA cabinet - 9.5 x 8.5 x 7.5 cm Massive Calcite, Prehnite and Copper with a crystallized vug of the same species. There is a large 4cm Copper crystal in the vug as well as a mass of Prehnite that rises up and contains 2 well formed Copper crystals to 2.5cm wide.
MK126 - Almandine Zillertal, Schwaz District, Tyrol, Austria small cabinet - 7.7 x 5.5 x 3 cm Classic Almandine specimen from Zillertal featuring two dark reddish-brown Almandine crystals in a schist matrix. The well-formed dodecahedral crystals reach 3.3cm in size.
MK128 - Almandine Seeber valley, Burggrafenamt, South Tyrol, Italy small cabinet - 7.5 x 5 x 4 cm Classic Italian Almandine specimen from Seeber valley featuring five dark reddish-brown Almandine crystals in a schist matrix. The well-formed dodecahedral crystals reach 4.7cm in size.
MK152 - Microlite with Lepidolite Paprok, Afghanistan cabinet - 9.5 x 6 x 3.5 cm Olive-green to brown Microlite crystals on Orthoclase crystals that are coated by Lepidolite. There are 10 octahedral Microlites crystals to 8mm in size present on the specimen. A rare, hard to find specimen.
MK155 - Sphalerite on Fluorite Denton Mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA small cabinet - 6.2 x 5 x 4.5 cm Purple and yellow Fluorite crystal with attached red Sphalerite crystals from the famous Fluorite region in Hardin Co., Illinois. The Fluorite is rectangular and complete all round with cubic purple Fluorite over a yellow core. Translucent with color zoning.
MK183 - Cerussite (R) Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico miniature - 4 x 1.8 x 1.3 cm Thick, transparent colorless Cerussite crystals, shocking in size and quality for the locality. This is from a recent find and look more like something you would see from Tsumeb than any I've ever seen from the Ojuela Mine. The specimen is composed of a large single crystal with a smaller V-twin attached. Unfortunately while photographing, the small V-twin detached from the main crystal and I had to therefore reattach it (the smaller crystal fits perfectly into an angular groove on the larger crystal like a puzzle piece).
MK194 - Azurite Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Sonora, Mexico miniature - 3.9 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm Large, complete single Azurite crystal from the Milpillas Mine. This is a floater well crystallized all around. There is some minor chipping present, but overall it's in good condition. Nice to find a complete single crystal like this. Both sides shown in photos.
LV328 - Amethyst Guateng, Pretoria District, South Africa miniature - 4.7 x 3.2 x 3 cm Lustrous Amethyst Quartz crystals known as 'Cactus Quartz' from South Africa. There are two generations of growth. The first generation has large Amethyst crystals measuring about 1.4cm thick, with a second generation of smaller crystals attached to the prism faces on the larger crystals. Undamaged.
LV378 - Siderite, Dolomite, Pyrrhotite Morro Velho Gold Mine, Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, Brazil small cabinet - 7 x 5 x 4 cm Crystals of translucent, lenticular Dolomite and tan colored Siderite all sprinkled with metallic crystals of Pyrrhotite. Ex. John Betts personal collection.
MK502 - Mimetite with Malachite Tsumeb, Namibia cabinet - 12 x 9 x 5.5 cm Large rock matrix covered by tiny clear Calcite crystals which are in turn sprinkled with small green Malachite spheres and starburst clusters of yellow Mimetite. Good coverage on both sides.
MK588 - Epistilbite Khumbhari Village, Nasik, Maharashtra State, India small cabinet - 5.5 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm Translucent, globular masses of Epistilbite lining an open vug in basalt. The specimen was carved out of solid basalt leaving the vug intact. Epistilbite is one of the more rare zeolites from India and not often seen for sale. The base is carved flat for perfect display.
